November Hatch -- Who's going to have late fall babies?

I always brood my chicks in the house. It is more reliable and predictable for me. i am able to keep a better eye on my chickies as well. I always worry about them when they are outside. Too cold in the winter here anyway. Mostly just wet though.

I have a bunch of duck eggs that have a few weeks left on them, though I"m not setting any more now. After these hatch I'll be done for a few months....I think the 3 brooders of chicks in the house is more than enough without adding to it!

I am collecting Silkie and Japanese bantam eggs, along with a few from my fav hens go on in as soon as another part for the bator comes in!

I set 195 eggs on the 29th.
I have silkies, project mille fleur cochins, mottled cochins, leghorn crosses, standard salmon faverolles, wyandottes, and a couple other breeds in there.
Most of them are for orders. I plan on brooding them in the barn. Too messy for the house!

Welcome to my house this winter! I live in a cold, snow climate. Should I be hatching in the winter? Probably not. However, I want to get these little egg producers producing.

Plus, I wanted to order eggs before it got too cold to ship them safely.

I have my incubator loaded with no room to spare with eggs. I placed them last Wednesday. I had placed them in the incubator to sell but now I am just gonna keep them. The more the merrier

195! And, in a cold climate! Wow!

Mine will need to be brooded in the basement. That is not something I look forward to, but I do look forward to babies!

I had to have something to do...
At least until my peafowl start laying in the spring.

Then I'll be busy hatching for myself!
