November Hatch -- Who's going to have late fall babies?

I would either let her hatch some, or put her in jail to break the broody. Jail is isolated with no nesting materials for 1-3 days.

thanks for the quick reply! I guess my main concern is the cold weather. I've never had a hen hatch eggs, so would adding the cold winter weather to the mix be a really bad idea? Should I move her and the eggs into the house at some point? Will she be ok in the barn? (we have really cold winters)
I'm just worried that my over-eagerness will result in serious problems. If it can be done without too many huge problems, I will let her sit on the eggs in a heartbeat!

Honestly? Chickens have been hatching out babies for centuries without heaters and without human intervention. If it is meant to be, they will hatch. Chickens are heartier animals than most people think. Let nature take it's course.

thanks - that is all I needed to hear!!

If you get a chance - could you explain to me how you respond to my questions with the box in your link that shows my previous question. (hope that makes sense)

I am so excited about the BYC forum - its wonderful to have all this chicken knowledge at my fingertips!

I thought the bantam Barnevelder eggs were due to hatch today, but checking the calendar and counting the actual date boxes, I see they're actually supposed to hatch tomorrow.

I'm kinda excited about these eggs... Also, my best friend has been staying with me for the past week and will be leaving on Sunday; I wanted her to participate in a hatching experience. She DID look into an egg I candled and saw the movement of the chick inside, and got just as excited as I did.

She also BROUGHT me a "rescue" chicken from her next door neighbor, who was giving up a lone chicken. So, now I have a full grown GLW in quarantine - and in treatment for a really, really bad case of scaley leg mites. Poor thing! (The former owner had two chickens and one died a while ago. The condition of THIS girl is pretty poor - she wasn't given good nutrition and her coop was apparently filthy.)

I have 4 in the incubator due to hatch Thanksgiving day. I set 13 but the others were clear. All 4 moving. They are from my RIR hens and BR roo. He had just started to mate with them so this was test eggs for fertility. Heres hoping the 4 hatch and they are not all roosters.
