November Hatch -- Who's going to have late fall babies?

hatched 3 days ago 22 fuzzy butts.....still one bator to go and i'm on my way to pick up more hatching eggs

Mine are due late tomorrow, early Monday morning.....but I've got pips under the broodies currently. Expecting some babies later today or tomorrow.

I have 7 little Columbian Cochin eggs cooking in the 'bator right now. Started with 10, but I candled this morning and had to toss three quitters.

The eggs were all over a week old when I set them, so I'm thrilled with 7 though!

I'll have to check my calender...I think they're due to hatch on the 22nd.

if it's her first try she may not go though with the whole thing anyway. Go ahead and let her try. It won't hurt her or the babies. If she actually does hatch em, with our new hatches in cold weather we put them in an enclosed pen (it has a wire front) with a heat light and shavings for warmth. We turn the heat light off at night and babies climb under mom, and they do just fine.

Well, my couple of pips have turned into at least 2 babies already full hatched and drying under EACH mom. Can't wait to check in the morning to see how many have hatched! Fully hatched babies over a day early......pretty par for the course around here. Looks like the broodies were sitting tight and doing a good job!

Logic is grosely over-rated! If you have room in the house for a broody pen...small dog crate in a big box with area of litter for after hatch, and room for a safe enclosure in the coop for after the chicks are fully feathered what better time than the Holidays to enjoy the mirackle of chicks?

and "hatching madness". With your broody doing the work, you don't have to worry about winter power failures!
