November hatched Egg-a-long

Why so many chickens!!!!! I couldn’t imagine!! Are you planning on selling eggs? I see some similar breeds to mine - Black australorp? Silver laced Wyandotte? Buff Brahma? EE? Leghorn? What do they look like now?
Yeah, I'm selling eggs to some local markets. So i'll have almost 200 layers. I've also got turkeys, Pheasants, Ducks, and Guineas ;) Oh and yeah, You guessed right. I've
got
White leghorns
Australorps
Buff Brahmas,
Silver laced Wyandottes
Welsummers
Easter eggers
Silver Cuckoo Marans
Black Copper marans
Jersey Giants
Light Brahmas
Buff orpingtons
Rhode island reds
Barred rocks
Partridge Rocks
Austra whites
Light brown leghorns
Dominiques
Delaware
and Speckled Sussex.. I'm pretty sure I have more breeds but that's all I can think of.
The Brahmas & jerseys are for meat. I plan on breeding them for meat.. I've got a couple of Jersey x brahma mixes that are pretty meaty so I wanted more of them. All the rest are for eggs though ;)

Wowza. You must live on some serious acreage. And I’d love to see your housing for these 200!!! Any of your Nov girls looking like they may lay in the next few weeks?

I’m opening nest boxes today!!! They’re 15 weeks so I want them to be familiar with them as the next 5 weeks come. I have one that’s looking really red. She was one I got at 9 weeks ish from a friend. I’m wondering if she’s a 1-2 weeks older than the rest. Although, she is smaller than the hatchery girls.

I've got 36 acres behind my house and 50+ in-front of my house. i've got three 8 x 16 coops i'm keeping the chicks in and i'm adding 3 additions onto my barn. one 16 x 40 where most of my layers will go, and two 20 x 12 spaces where my Turkeys, Guineas, and maybe pigs will stay. The 8 x 16 coops will either be used for my ducks or as breeding pens/brooding pens ;)

None of my Nov girls are looking ready to lay, They'l lay sometime in April since they're only 15 weeks old and it takes about 26 weeks to lay.

Wow!! That’s a ton of space!!! I wish. We’re on about 3/4 of an acre. Lol. I am impressed with your setup. I’d love pics!

I thought pullets laid around 20 weeks? Is it more towards 26 weeks because we’re in winter months?

I don't have many pictures of my barn but i've got some pics of my smaller coops if you want I can post them. I believe it takes 6 months for chickens to lay and there are 26 weeks in 6 months.

And some pictures of my Nov chicks eating some cracked corn and meal worms as a treat. Everything's supper muddy over here so i'm waiting for thing to 'Green up' a bit before I take a whole bunch of pictures again.

Okay I was under the impression that good layers are supposed to start around 18-20 weeks average. And then the heavy breeds are a little later like 22-26 weeks.

Do you have any other chickens in here or are these all your November chicks? There’s a couple I see that are really developed.

Hm, could be? But I believe it's ducks that lay around 18-20 weeks of age. Some chicken breeds like the leghorn or sex links can lay as early as 20 weeks old.

I've got two accidental cockerels and my bantams are in with my November chicks at the moment since they don't do well in the winter and I don't heat my coops. So my bantams are in with my 60 chicks until it starts to get warmer ;)
