novice roof question, please advise?

I'm guess I'm glad I checked one last time before I spent $30+ on suntuf panels and the screws and wavy things! If I'm back to planning to use another roofing option - what would you creative experts suggest? I have two pieces of thick plywood sized 31.75"x48" and I had thought about screwing them side by side with mending plates and a lot of caulk in the seam, and then painting it several coats of semi-gloss paint - and then could I screw right through the plywood into the studs and supports in the coop? That makes a bigger roof than I really need - but I don;t own a saw that can cut plywood. Another option could be to go to Home Depot and ask them to cut my a thinner piece of plywood to 46"x58" and paint that and screw that onto the supports in the coop. That costs money (and I'm not sure how I could transport a piece of plywood that big back home) - but I could use lighter plywood and it would be a single piece. Are there other easy effective ways to do a shed roof? Please share your ideas with me!!

I dunno, there is really no particular reason not to use the plastic panels as long as you insulate under them in cold weather. And if you're concerned about solar gain (thinking of other thread regarding using *clear* panels), try translucent ones, with insulation temporarily put underneath for the cold months.

But, if you would rather use just your plywood, I suppose you could do what you propose as long as you understand that it is likely to begin leaking along the seam at some point. Mind, if you are careful it might not be for a fair while, and you might be able to recaulk it to fix it for a while, or put a tarp or shower curtain or etc over top. It would not be a long-term maintenance-free construction but I see nothing wrong with doing whatcha can with whatcha got and you might well be able to keep ti going indefinitely with not too much upkeep

Good luck, have fun,
