I have a hen bcm showing the same symptoms from the same bloodline as copper. I'll send photos. He is suffering today and closing his eyes when he tries to walk. I gave him aspirin 81mg.View attachment 1754147 View attachment 1754148 View attachment 1754150 View attachment 1754147 View attachment 1754148 View attachment 1754150
The wraps were removed yesterday. I have a hen now showing the same symptoms. Just the copper marans seem to be affected so far the wyandotte hens are fine.
Photo or brand of the grower feed? They have all been getting a complete grower feed since week 9
O.k. but you don't have an "analysis" of the feed - how much protein and calcium does it contain? It's a grower feed from a local feed store. It doesn't have anything on it but the logo. They told me it was a complete mix. He also gets treats like fresh greens, corn and oats in small quantities as well as pasta and rice sometimes.
Ok will do that sounds like a good idea for a protein boost. Thanks for the advice, this is my first flock and I've never encountered any other conditions other than splay leg or spraddle leg before.O.k. but you don't have an "analysis" of the feed - how much protein and calcium does it contain?
Those 2 things is what I would want to know. imho, growing birds need 18-20% protein and minimum calcium.
Vitamins/minerals can be "supplemented" I suppose, but personally I would prefer to have an analysis to see what's in the feed.
For the time being i would cut all those treats - give a little egg, fish or meat as a treat instead.
