How's she doing today? How are you holding up?

My sincerest sympathies to you Brad, and to your little Seabright hen. She's a beautiful little girl and I know she will be sorely missed by you and her flock mates.

I hope that she transitions quickly to the next realm and that she is pain free. keep your chin up and take comfort in knowing that you've done everything humanly possible. She's one very lucky hen in the aspect of having you to care for her and make her remaining time on this earth as pleasant as it can be. So many other chickens out there wish they had the same.

Brad, I am so very sorry. I've lost a few of my own but never had any dying in my arms or lap and I can't imagine that kind of pain! She is such a lucky chicken to have you with her in her last moments.

She was such a beautiful, gorgeous little hen.

Again I'm so sorry!! My heart breaks for you.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, I guess) she has finally passed on. I checked on her this morning before I went to school and she was having labored breathing. I just got home from school a bit ago and checked on her. She must've died sometime this afternoon. Her body was stiff and cold so she's been gone for several hours at least. I'm going to miss her

At least now she can accompany the other hen I lost this winter and not be alone.

Sending prayers your way. Although I don't yet have any chickens, I have lost "pets" before, and when they are your family it is especially tough. May you take peace in knowing that you did an amazing job caring for her, and now she is at peace.

If it was Marek's, they have all been exposed and are carriers, unless they were properly vaccinated and quarantined as chicks.

Unfortunately, they weren't vaccinated. So it is possible that they are carriers. These are my first chickens and haven't been around other birds other than being packed at the hatchery. If any others catch it, I will be sure to make their suffering end quickly and painlessly.
