In the Brooder
I'm new to the chicken sport. It's my son's fault! He lives in fairfax city Virginia just outside D.C. Has had up to 6 chickens at any given time. I flew out to visit while on a two hour flight there all but one of his birds fell to a red fox which has visited their coop before a few times. Their chickens have it all. Except the support of the city of fairfax. They do not allow for any wild animal to be dealt with nor will animal control help. Which leaves me to Mrs Waddles. She was the last of the flock and we became close friends while they were at work and the boys at school. We watched tv, sat on the patio solving the world's problems, walked the gardens eating bugs. (I watched). She was very sad and lonely. By the time I left a week later she wasn't crying anymore just peep peep, cluck, cluck and always felt she had to be in the house on the couch behind my head.
I needed to get chickens!
Built a fancy coop and requested 10 peeps from my neighbor. He abliged brought me a box about a month later and said have fun, then promptly left.
THERE WAS 29 peeps in the box! So I have chickens. Only 12 now, still need to get to 10. Coop restrictions.
With that the journey began.
