They had a few different breeds but I'm doubting I'd the father was really a Ameraucana since the little black one has what looks to be a single comb and I thought the pea comb was dominant to that trait?

two of them anyway.i missed your post about daddy roo. americanas have a tuft at the ears. ear muffs some call them .being mixed chicks it will be hard to say what they are mixed with. the ear muffs may come in just a bit smaller. but probably colored eggs are in your forecast !! if i had to guess and thats a big if, i would say they are mixed with game hens.
I'm not sure what a bearded chick looks like. The girl who I bought them from I think said the darker striped one has a beard. I'm not sure if this matters but both of the striped ones had a darker spot on their head than the rest of their stripe.
The black one looks to have a single comb, but it's much smaller than the comb on the other hatchling that had a single comb as well. The other two, I don't really see a comb to speak of. They all have the same father (allegedly an ameraucana).
you are so right! Shy guy already has some pretty significant tail father's coming in and the wing feathers as well...they were just hatched Friday night/Saturday morning! Lemon had some serious pin feathers on her wings when she hatched, and her but is just starting to sprout little pokey feathers.Oh, they are gonna grow up so fast!
I guess it have to have more practice...my eyes need better training all that fluff looks the same to me hahaha. Shyguy was bigger than the other two, much bigger. Not sure if that's due to breed or what. What exactly is a game hen and what would that mean for how they turn out as adults? Sorry for all my newbie questions!
