Now I'm confused.....!!???

Thought of something else. Did you disinfect or clean that bator really good? Wood can carry a lot of bacteria in it & when you have heat & humidity added it can explode inside an incubator. An easy way would be to add 2 tablespoons of Clorox to a gallon of water & use a spray bottle to spray the inside, wetting everything to the point of run off. Let it set for 20 minutes of so, then dry it as best you can, turn it back on & let the incubator dry itself. When you start it up, you will be able to smell the Clorox, but it doesn't hurt anything. Try not to spray to much on any metal parts. Clorox will eat the galvanize & metal objects over time

I put that therm in ice water and was dead on 32. So.

I just bought and put in an acurite digital therm/humidity Gage. Going to let it run for an hour and check it against the one that is in there. Say it goes from 32-122 degrees and 16%-99% humidity. But it does say it's for indoors. So we will see how this works. The only one they had at Wal-Mart. Doesn't have the probe on this one.

As for cleaning that could very well be a problem. The thing smelled very bad when I got it. Wasn't used for months and had a very bad musty wood smell. I washed and sprayed the bleach mixture about 3 or 4 times. Over and over. That's why one of the things I'm doing after this run is painting the inside and out. I know wood can harbor bacteria.

Well from what I am seeing so far, the temp is at 100. Sort of goes from 99-100. This new one only goes up 1 degree at a time. No halves. So that's dead on with the other one I have in there. Stabilizing at 100 degrees. Now the humidity on the other hand is WAY off from the spring controlled one. This new one is showing 30-31% only. Stabilizing at 30%. Where the old is showing 45%. I wonder now if that plastic pan they had is too small for this big bator. It's like one of those plastic rectangle pans that a frozen lasagna dinner would come in.

I don't think its humidity. Humidity generally shows up at hatch. (to wet, drowned or stuck) Watching air cell development is an easy way to keep track of that
Because you seem to have lost chicks through out incubation, I'd guess Bacteria

WHERE IS YINEPU

For the heck of it I moved the water pan back to the bottom. Noticed the water in the pan when on top was quit cool to the touch. Going to see if that changes anything. Do remember this is all a test. I just hope I can figure out what is the cause. That's the hard part. The only thing I can do I guess after this run is paint the inside, get a smaller fan and run again with maybe humidity around 50%. Just to see.

I think it may be due to a bit of everything. It does hold temp very good. LOL.

don't get as excited about the water pan as watching the air cells on days 7, 14,18 if the eggs don't have as much space as the pictures, then I would cut back on water, and maybe even on day 18 if it is a smaller air cell then no water during hatch.

Hey bill is that your rooster? he's handsome! I was a county fair last year and saw a rooster I fell in love with, I didn't get him but he was neat! he was a japanese roo and as I walked by him he crowed, I looked at him and said, "boy you think alot about yourself don't you?" and he looked right at me and dropped his wing and did the rooster scooty dance towards me! If I was only a banty hen!

Hi gimmie birdies, Yeah he is one of mine. Should say WAS. The picture was taken about 8 or so years ago I kept the picture because it shows up in a book on Japanese Bantams written by Terry Wible

Actually my air cells on the eggs that I think stopped are too big. I'm coming to the conclusion that the BIG fan is just drying everything up. After this run going to put 1 or 2 small computer fans on the back. As YINEPU said, should have gentle air flow, not a tornado in there. LOL.
