Now I'm confused.....!!???

The first pip is finally out of the shell, everyone else still doing OK. I went n and helped the wrong way egg, took off some shell and made a small opening in the membrane. Have to just wait, I don't want to hit blood veins and can't see well since it is going around the middle of the egg. I did lay in on top of the carton to keep the air hole up.

I only have one pip so far and some peeping. My temperature must have been too low during incubation. Day 21 isn't over until around noon today. So hopefully they are just late bloomers.

You may get something yet. I have heard that it's really 21-23 days for hatching. Some people hatching Maran Eggs told me that it is not uncommon for that breed to take up to 25 days to hatch! So fingers crossed something will happen with your eggs soon.

I started collecting already today for the next run. I'm wondering where everybody stores there eggs if stored from 1-7 days?? I don't have a cool dark and wet basement. I'm sure hardly anybody has a walk-in humidor that has perfect temp and humidity. The coolest room in the house still gets around 68 degrees. And our house is very dry. Maybe I'm over thinking again. And I just need to put them there and forget about it.

We don't have a basement either. I put mine in cartons on the kitchen counter. Or in one of the kitchen cabinets. As long as they aren't getting any direct sunlight, I think they should be okay. The temperature in our house lingers around 70. I haven't had any that I know of start prematurely developing before I put them in the incubator. If you have one room in the house that is cooler than another store them in there.

Oh man, that's hard. Hopefully the little guy makes it. Just sitting around waiting during hatch day is so difficult. I have done that before too to ensure the chick can get some oxygen. I figure if they can breathe they have a chance.

when it had pipped and you see him just a bill breathing out he is getting his lungs used to the air, once he is used to it his blood vessels will shut down and he will come out it is a chemical thing.

Well first time, first run total failure!!

I confirmed what I thought. First egg never did develop all the way. Second egg was I would say 90% developed. Three and forth egg all the way ready to hatch but I think drowned. Sack was broke and was a lake of water coming out of them both.

Going to clean this really good, put in a different fan and some other stuff to it. Should be ready to go next thursday with another try at this. Going to do the dry method this time. I just have to figure what to do with the inside. Paint, leave it something. It's plywood. I don't know. Pretty frustrated right now.

I have hatched before but it had been a while, and mostly let the hens do it. I felt like having babies in Jan. I tried the over moisture (cup of water in home made bator), had one chick hatch, and the other chicks were fully developed but too wet. My second batch I put in 7fertile fridge eggs, and 6 fertile regular eggs from a diff. farm. I used 1/2 cup water every other day and some times less checking the air cells days 7/14/18. I got 3 from the fridge eggs and 5 from the reg. batch. the other eggs were still moist but developed. I am hatching my last batch for the season 6 eggs in a smaller bator, less water yet, and hardly any, day 14 and they are all viable, air cells say plenty water in there, not to much though. ( I am just using this as an example of too much water. not looking for advice) Here's my las batch. the EE are the Fridge eggs.
