Just have to vent. I give our Church free eggs whenever they need them. Supplied 2 dozen free today for breakfast. Than I find out they were upsetbecause one had a small spot of blood in it. Made them upset. They said that is why they don't like eggs from hens with roosters. Is it wrong for me to think they are being picky or ungrateful? I think they are. They threw it away. It would not have hurt them. Maybe I won't supply any more. Just makes me mad. Or am I wrong? Ok so now I find out they are telling people my eggs are no good don't buy them. that is why I have lost a couple of customers. Telling everyone it is my roosters fault. So you know what go to the store and buy your eggs for 3+ dollars. See if I care. Than told to candle my eggs to make sure there is no blood in them. I say Kiss my behind. I am really thankful for everyone listening to me rant and rave. Some people just are not nice. Educate yourselves. I won't tell them cause if I talk to them what comes out of my mouth won't be christian and I will not lower myself.

If they are fresh eggs that are collected daily then no it's not your fault. Blood spots can happen in unfertile eggs as well. But if the eggs were allowed to sit outside for more than a day I would say...gross!

No I collect them all during the day. It is just pure meaness. Really hurts my feelings when people are ugly. My eggs are never left to sit.

That is just uneducated people. It is a natural occurence that people don't accept because mass production prevents nature from happening. As a Christian I would say- find a new church. Doesn't sound to me like this one has the right foundation.

I my self would not give them anymore eggs!

They could have just asked you about the blood spot and the whole issue would have been solved in the first place....

You will get new customers for your eggs in no time, and the new customers will be VERY happy to get your fresh eggs

Is there a church bulletin? I would put up a printout of an article detailing how blood spots happen in any egg, unfertilized or not, and how the grading system usually gets rid of any blood spots.

How absolutely rude and mean spirited to accept eggs from you and then rip you apart behind your back. Not very Christian of them. I don't think you will have a problem replacing the lost customers and now you can sell the ones you had been donating. People like this make me very mad. There is no excuse for ignorance like that especially when it ends up hurting someone elses feelings.

Not picky, not necessarily ungrateful. Just uneducated about chickens and their eggs. Blood spots have NOTHING to do with a rooster being around or not. You could try to educate them, but they do seem set in their ways. Fine, they don't have to accept them.

But to tell others not to buy your eggs, because of their mistaken belief? Uhm, not ethical, not Christian and not legal as far as I am concerned.

Side note to Show Me Chick: Unless those eggs were sitting under a hen or at 100 degrees for several days there is no "gross" factor. Unincubated eggs do not develop from sitting unattended in a nest box.

That is sad.

Some customers stoped buying after they found out I had a roo. I tried telling them it is no difference, really, but still.

What do these people think that eggs are?? I blame it on the supermarket society frame of mind. Super white eggs, super shiny apples, super orange cheese. (Milk is not orange, people!!)
