NOW JUST PLAIN MAD Big deal Blood in Egg? What is the problem

The bloody spots are USUALLY just a speck of the lining of the ova duct!!! No big deal, and NO it's not a baby chick! You can see a baby chick if it is there, it has an EYE. If you get an egg that was sat on by a hot hen or in a hot nest or in your bator or bra bator, whatever, you may get a few blood cells and then see some vessels, still no big deal. Now, if they hatched a bloody chick mess in the skillet, then I understand GROSS. Okay, I am getting more calm......and yep, I too hate to drop or crack a single egg, even if I DO have 30 dozen in the egg frig. WE BYCers are on your side OP! I often think of finding an article and just sending it round and round on Facebook and emails.

Its a bad world.. what can you do.. not much i guess

My stepdad used to give me eggs from the chickens at where he worked (I think they were Easter eggers and other mixed breeds). Some of them would have a blood speck, but it was very small and not troublesome at all. Just fried them up and ate them. Nothing's happened to me, yet!

I have 8 pullets without a rooster and 6 other hens with roosters. I've only had one trace of blood in an egg ever. Some of my in laws won't even try any of our eggs because they swear that since I have roosters that there'll be blood in the eggs. Crazy people I tell you.

Wow, I eat eggs with meat spots all the time. Some folks just refuse to eat anything that isn't "pretty". These folks would not make it if left to fend for themselves if ya know what I mean. Kinda sad really. It is irritating that the lack of knowlege of their part is being used to slander you. I wouldn't supply anymore eggs.

makes you wonder if all those kind church ladies are vegetarians........or if they think the meat they buy does not have blood......

Personally, I would be upset that they were so uncaring and inconsiderate that they felt the need to behave like that and represent the church in that manner. Speaking with the pastor might help them not treat others in the same way. But I would certainly see them and the church in a whole in a different light

If it were me, I'd probably put together a nice little single-page flyer and explain the blood spots, how they don't hurt you, etc.
Then I would baptize all my chickens & let those busy-bodies know that not only are your eggs great, they come from Christian chickens!

Seriously, you should address it with the people that started it. The flier might not be a bad idea, at least to give to the customers that don't know any better. Maybe a letter to the editor of your local paper about the idiocy of some people (ok, be nice...).
I would seriously consider a different church, though, if that's a representative of the congregation. forgive, yes; keep putting up with it? HECK NO!

This might be a stupid question coming from a non-christian, but the others are right saying this does not sound very christ like in their behavior so - couldn't you talk to your minister? Isn't that one of their jobs? Tell him/her of how hurt and upset you were by their lack of knowledge and more their talking about you behind your back and ask for advice.

If they cannot or will not help straighten this out then you may need a new congregation.

Fresh eggs will get those spots sometimes. I just pick them out. Sounds like they are used to store eggs and just don't know any better.

Heck I pulled a hair out of some chocolate mousse once - I wasn't going to throw choc mousse out!!!!

Christians or not -- they are people. And some people are rude! I would talk with your pastor as someone else mentioned. From time to time, most of us involved in church have had to deal with rude people. It has helped me to talk with my pastor if something someone said or did was hurtful. Best wishes and

.

I have people that buy eggs from me regularly and forewarn them that this is a part of eating fresh farm eggs. I explain what a meat spot is, that it can happen from time to time, and so forth. So far nobody has had an issue. I, myself, just usually pick it out and use the egg. Once in a great while, I have one that seems to be littered with them and I throw it out or cook it up for the dog.
