Now That I Understand the Thermometer/Humidity Thing.....

How do I get the humidity to go down when the temperature is correct? If I open them up, the temps going to go down with it. I should have never bought this hygrometer - I'm going to obsess.

what is your humidity at right now? Do you have water in a bowl or tray inside the incubator?

How long have the eggs been in the incubator? Or are you just setting them now? Is there water setting in the incubator or is it dry in there?

I have a Little Giant and I have the reservoirs filled in the bottom.

Do not have the eggs in there until tomorrow. Wanted to make sure the temps and humidity were correct settings and stable.

If you are just getting ready to set the eggs, take the water out completely and see what your humidity goes down to by tomorrow morning. If it is to low, add a small amount to one of the skinny resevoirs, leave the big one in the center empty. It is different by everyones climate. I actually incubate in mine, which are two forced air LG's, with NO water in them whatsoever till lockdown and then I up humidity to 50-60%. I have to put towels and everything in mine to get it that high but my house air is really dry from the wood stove burning.

Oh, that is a thought. We have a fire going in the fireplace and it get real dry in here. I usually have a couple humidifiers going in the house. Snowing here right now and a fire feels good but the humidifiers are probably determining that reading. Mmmmm. thanks.

Yep, those humidifiers probably keeping that reading up that high. At least you know when it comes time to lock them down you should not have a problem getting the humidity up high enough to hatch out chicks. I always have to battle with getting it up, maybe I need a humidifier for the kitchen when I am hatching...gave me an idea. Think I will go buy one and set it up in there and see what it does.
