Now that's a big egg!

I was blessed with a huge egg! Maybe a double yolk?! Showing you a comparison from first week egg to my monster egg Week 5 and the ladies are happy, even in this heat wave!

what a beauty! We have 6 hens, and every couple of days or so, we find a big one, and it is always double yoked! Actually, the 1st one we ever received was a big one - we were too excited to eat it (for awhile, anyway!)

Thank you, I was pretty excited too! That's neat that you get them frequently, I hope I do too! Wonder how that happens? This egg my hubby and I will share, pretty speacil egg!

oh for sure...savour every morsel! Do you have more than 1 hen?

I have 11 hens, all laying faithfully! So many eggs! My hubby and I shared the double yolk egg. How does thishappen, do you know why?

It happens when two or more eggs develop at the same time and get incased in a shell it most often happens to a young hen

Double yolked eggs are pretty common with new layers for the first month or so.
2 ovum are released at the same time and get surrounded by albumen then encased in a shell.
