Now this is how a hatch is SUPPOSED to go!

Update: 15 hatched perfectly. Four more pipped. One pipped for about 24 hours. Have to go to work!!! Moved ten into brooder then five more hatched. I'm thrilled. More pics to follow.

See you can do it..IT ain't Rocket Science !! Its Chicken science !! Congrats and stay DRY....cva34

Congrats on the additional hatches.

I have three out, and two more that are still pipped. I'm sure if I go back to bed, they'll hatch- I've missed all three this time.

Ok... I'm totally exhausted! A total of 20 babies!! I have to take pictures to credit the parents, which I will do sometime this week. But here are my tallies:

Riverside silkies - I received 17 eggs, 15 hatched beautifully.
Sundown silkies - I received 17 eggs, 5 hatched, one did not make it (had malformed legs)
Gaetano Farms - I received a bunch of eggs with caveat that they may not be fertile (eggs were free). 3 went into lockdown, but only one hatched.

About half the chicks hatched late on Day 21 and the other half late on Day 22, although one little stinker hatched the morning of Day 23. Twenty chicks are doing well (minus one with unfortunate legs). One chick got spraddle legs, which seems to be correcting quite nicely with a bandaid splint. My temp was too low during week one. I caught the mistake and fixed it for week 2 and 3.

Now I need to figure out where to put these babies when they outgrow their plastic bin, which will be quite soon, I think!!

Hope everyone else's hatch went well!
