Now what? Found 6 little little baby kittens

Feral cats are short lived with the wildlife out here. At least at night. My youngest cat is a great huntress but knows to come in after dark. She's seen things! I just wanted them to be in a safer place and fixed. And I've seen first hand especially in a growing county how overpopulated it can get so wanted them fixed .. About 3 yrs ago they tore down the old pizza hut I worked when I was a teenager and some organization went there prior and found and rescued close to 300 feral cats! Operation pizza hut was held
Wow that's a ton of cats . Hope you have fun with keeping one of the kittens they sure are cute. I always thought the ferals had a short life the the population has down sized a lot sense then and only the bigger stronger ones are left . Every now and then I see a kitten runing around but not to often . The cats around here are evolving to look more like raccoons than your typical house cat. It is really interesting to see something that has been domesticated for so long go back to its wild ways. I have one tamer orange cat that has been coming around for a while. I have never seen a feral orange cat but we have one that I'm guessing was a stray . The feral ones around here are mostly gray with some white .

@Rachel Taylor - glad you found homes for some!! At least you won’t be dealing with this neighbors irresponsibility for much longer since you are moving.

we moved to my current city area several years ago. There was a huge feral cat problem here. In the last 2-3 years they have instituted catch, spay/neuter, release programs. They notify the neighborhood they will be in to set traps (so pet owners keep their pets in those days). If they have extra spots for the vet, they spay/neuter shelter cats/kittens. We adopted a kitten from the shelter that was not spayed, but we had to sign a form indicating we would spay. Not sure how they would check if I did so. Noticed recently that all the kittens available for adoption currently were spayed/neutered, so maybe they’ve been able to get this done more frequently. Also, they hold low cost spay/neuter and shot clinics for dogs and cats. Anyone can make an appointment. Maybe your county will be able to institute some kind of measure to help reduce the feral cat population bc they definitely can be a problem!
people have domesticated too many animals than they can care for. I have seen pictures where people domesticated and feed raccoons and never fix them then let them breed it of control. Eventually they had to call in a sharp shooter to take out the population. I have a feral population of chickens that I feed . But the excuse is I plan on using them for meat and studying .

Last night coming home I saw lots of sets of eyes running down my road. 6 little bitty kittens. They are off spring from my neighbors cats who refuses to take time or money to get his pets neutered or spayed and says offspring isn't his problem and isn't wasting money feeding cats ' he didn't ask for( is words not mine)
We set a box and blankets for last night and when we gave them food the began batting each other for it. Runt got it good. My daughters fixing him up ..but they were that hungry. I don't know age what the can eat so young or where to go. Kittens outside here are as good as dead. I can't bring them with my current dogs and cats and shelter doesn't take stray cays anymore

If you are a Facebook person, I know that some ppl have been posting that they have kittens and they are able to get rid of them. Outside are the best kittens to pick up: they can be made to be inside/outside cats since they have the outside habits already. They would prefer to go outside to go potty than use a litter box. I keep one in the house at all times, just in case, and rarely have to remove anything from it.

Our shelter will not let you adopt unless they spay and it's part of adoption fee .We have program if you bring a stray it's free and only 15 dollars otherwise. Bit my neighbors figure it's an inconvenience to them. I can't believe people. They offer this because there so many cats there it cheaper to offer .It's sad when the won't take any more because there NOWHERE to put tthem. It's sad

yes, shelters and rescues are overrun with cats!! When we decided to get a cat for the barn, which has an insulated and heated area that could be accessed by cat, along with vet, food, water, litter box, bed provided, we were open about our intentions. The cat would not be in our house, but would be in sheltered barn with all above mentioned, and have access to the outside. Wow!! Such disdain from these places overrun with cats!! “We have to talk to our board members since it won’t be living in your home”, or “we only adopt out to places where cat will live indoors”.. etc. so, we went to an animal shelter that did not have this restriction. The kitten we adopted is about 13-14 months old, has lived with us for a year, happily and healthily in our barn. She does not wander at night bc we lock her inside the barn at night.

Milo is so adorable...:love
I'm so glad you found all of them somewhere to go so quickly...:clap
We had a male cat till about 6 months ago and just never came home. Broke our hearts. When I saw Milo it was exact replica as Rodeo as a kitten and actually has some of the same little quirky habits .Won us over immediately

I love Orange cats. My outdoor cat Alley is a Manx cat. Tailless breed. She is awesome..:thumbsup

This is looking like a happy ending, great news.... only ... your neighbor still has breeding cats, right? :hmm
Unfortunately. It's people like him is why shelters are so crowded. I'm in moving process but I was thinking about taking them to get spayed and neutered without them knowing. They are strictly outdoor cats and those cats have been missing for days at a time and doesn't seem to concern them. The kittens frustrate them so it would help everyone in the end

And beautiful .My Rodeo loved my chickens. When a possom got in the chicken run years ago I found him slamming into the wire and scratched all up trying to get in to get the possom. He napped with our chickens all the time. Best dude ever
