Now what??? Hen is off balance

What is Duramycin for? I saw all the antibiotics at Fleet Farm. I was overwhelmed. I didn't know which one treats what.

I will look into the homeopathic treatment as well. It can't hurt.

I should've video taped her too. My hen is way worse than yours right now. She is laying on her side. If she tries to stand she flips right over. I can't stand watching it.

Thanks and good luck to you too!

This is very true! And they can still be carriers and pass the disease to unvaccinated chickens. Mareks commonly causes lesions of nervous tissue, causing these nerves to lose function. It may be come and go. It can also affect nerves involved with movement, and occasionally may involve nerves associated with breathing mechanisms.

CreamPuff was vaccinated, Punky is unknown. I got Punky from a 4H kid at the fair.

I guess all I can do is try to keep them hydrated and eating and wait and see. If Punky did not improve by sunset tonight I was going to put her to rest. She looked miserable. She perked up an hour before sunset. I'll see how it goes tomorrow.

I don't want to lose them but I can't stand to see them suffer either. I also cannot handle this. It's what I think about the minute my eyes open in the morning and the last thing before I fall asleep at night.

This morning Punky seems to have a little more energy. She's talking to me again.
Cream Puff is laying on the floor, cannot get up. She is laying by the food and water now. She does eat and drink and is very alert. That's how she was yesterday too

You have been on my mind all evening. I am glad to hear there is some improvement. I am curious as to what your vet says, please let us know. Hoping for the best!

Ok I have Duramycin-10. I'm trying to figure out how to mix it at the right dosage. It's a 6.4 oz. package.

Can I have electrolytes in the water with it?

Also can I clean her eye with something?? I have epsom salts??

I am really happy to see more members listing good solid information about Marek's.

Just wanted to say that my Hen is showing GREAT improvement. Not sure if it was the electrolytes, vitamins, homeopathic stuff or what but she is IMPROVING! Hope yours is starting to as well.

5Leepy!

I was just coming on here to THANK everyone for their advice.

I gave the electrolytes, vitamins and today antibiotics. I think they have a cold. Maybe Creampuff's is in her ear?

Punky went to the feeder tonight and FILLED HER CROP !!! I'm so happy!!!

CreamPuff is still a little wobbly, she really wanted to roost but she tipped over. She is improving too!

omg thank you all so much!!
