Now what?! Wild birds stuck in netting

We plan on building around the trees. Though it wouldn't hurt for us to cut some down because most of them are dead because there used to be goats in the area we are closing in.
The foundation fencing around our yard was built in the 40s at least, and the fencing is going literally through the trees. Big huge oak trees. Looks like the fence is growing out of the trees, it’s odd. But I’m not cutting down healthy old oaks. It’s great shade for the chickens too. But apparently the cicadas around here like to hang out in the trees, and they’re so loud, louder than my rooster if you can believe that!
P.s I want a mini goat.

It will make things so much easier for protecting my chickens. How did you install yours?
I use 2" heavy duty knotted netting over my pens here are a few picks on how I installed mine. These pens have been up and working for over 10 years now. If you get snow you will need to do some things for snow load like I did.

Hi, so my chicken yard is complete finally. Cattle fencing (I think) covered with hardwire mesh going a ft into ground. A canopy of tree branches overhead for excellent shade. It’s huge space and just perfect. I covered the yard top area in netting for aerial predators. Sigh before I put up the netting cardinals made a habit of eating left over scratch/feed once my chickens were in the coop. Now that the netting is up, baby cardinals are getting caught and tangled in the netting. I’ve rescued 3 in two days. I’m thinking about putting a bird feeder near the run, maybe that will help? Anything I can do to prevent these babies from doing this?
How about flash tape, ribbons, etc. tied to the netting? Even spinners, anything to make the netting more visible. Good luck.

Mine are free range and the wild birds share their scratch. I have never had a problem with illness from them. Rural OK so mostly cardinals and such. Maybe some areas have more problems.
Whew! I have cardinals, blue jays, crows and mockingbirds mostly. But the wild birds that really liked to share the feed, were the cardinals. I’ve still got one cardinal we named Houdini. He magically appears inside the yard for the buffet. He is determined!

don't stress, i've had chickens for 40+ years and they've always been around wild birds, i've had very few sick birds over the years, just roll with it!!
I’m going to have to roll with it, I have no idea what else to do. I can (try my best) to keep predators out, but wild birds…they’re literally everywhere here. My rooster doesn’t even scream at the cardinals anymore lol.

Um do you not know me at all?? I’m so not a pro. I’m a huge worrier and have no clue what I’m doing. If it wasn’t for y’all my chickens would probably still be living in my house wearing diapers.
:celebrateSo I’m not the only one!!! I’m such a worry wart myself and sometimes think I’m the only crazy chicken momma who freaks out when I see one of my girls napping in the sun!! Inevitably they get up and take off running when I come near like oh geez her she comes again everyone run and hide! lol 😂

I did just have one of my girls pass on me and I am awaiting the necropsy results so I know if I need to be concerned about the rest of my flock. I have beat myself up over what more could have I have done or done differently so that she didn’t pass. It was very sad and I am very bummed.

I’m glad to have this support system of other chicken mommas and daddies that love their girls as much as I do mine!

After the first time they are likely to avoid the netting. Just keep picking them out.

I think they just can't see it, or can't judge the space of the netting holes. You might be able to cover the area with a very light piece of dark fabric so they learn to avoid the area.
String some colored string in your netting. Theywill steer clear of the netting.
