I thought Nugget was growling at me, but it sounds more like gargling in his throat when he exhales, or chest or sinus congestion. I noticed tonight while trying to take a pic of him and Steven pointed it out while holding him. He doesn't act sick or lazy, or anything at all that would lead me to believe something is seriously wrong, but still the odd sound bothers me. Does anyone have any ideas what could be up with my gentle giant?

someone else will likely know though.

He eats and drinks, sleeps, dust-bathes, doesn't act sick at all, just the odd noise he's making and it's mainly when he exhales. I haven't heard him sneeze, and I've not seen any bubbles around his nostrils or anything.

hmmmm I have no idea but I certainly hope that big ole boy is alright...could he have something stuck in his throat or crop maybe? Does his poo look okay?

Dang, I hope someone jumps in here that has had this issue or knows what it is.

I will keep that big ole baby i my thoughts and prayers

WOW,
Sorry Nugget isn't exactly his usual. Three horses is on line. Maybe you should PM. She seems to be the resident Chicken ER. Good Luck.

I've been following the Nuggetron around all morning, he's not acting strange or sneezing, he's eating, he's being himself. Maybe it's nothing to worry about and I've just never noticed it before. In a human I might think asthma from the sound.

Dang it, there are a couple or three respiratory experts here, and I can't remember who they are!

Check the other chickens while you're at it. If I remember or find the pros I'll let you know. Meanwhile, do a search for respiratory disease.

I'm probably over-reacting, but it's because I adore Nugget.

im new with all of this- but had a chicken with similar prob- no one could tell me much- researched library and bought health guide- thought it could be gapeworm on mine. other simptoms were opening beak stretching neck. etc. the wheeze/gurgle was from a red worm. Wazine not the cure- ivermectin .05 mixed with glycerine 1. or so. But health guides-check them out- would love to hear back what results you find. and good luck! my gals are fine now. P.S. your local feed store should have the meds and dewormers and advice on use. also the info on med amounts on this site is really helpful:caf
