Help - retrieved an injured pigeon - broken? wing. will it heal? How can I help? Have chickens - (s)he is eating their feed...haven't seen it drink yet. How do we determine sex? If it never flies free again - can it live with our chickens?

broken wings usally heal
give it food and water and check the wing and the rest of the pigeon
sexing a pigeon is hard see if anyone else oh and is there a ring with numbers on its leg?

Feed it layer pellets for extra nutrition and digestability, and depending on how broken/injured may need to have bones set slinged splinted, and kept in low cage so doesn't try to fly and hurt further broken bones on. birds heal extreamly well and fast, the trick is

Ensuring they mend proper for best results for your new bird. try to find a rehaber near you or vet assistant/tech ect.. or find local zoo or pigeon club. also open wounds may benefit from cheap anti biotic ointment (just don't use any kind of plus pain, as said it can be extremely toxic, seeing it having killed kittens a rescue person i knew had happen).
