Npip is pretty easy to get. Send me your email address and I can send you the form. All you do is fill it out and send it to the address on the form, Dept Of Ag and Markets in Albany. Then they will call you to set up a time to come out and test. I sent in my form in March and put down april or may for testing. I just got tested last week. I should get my certificate in the mail within 3 or so weeks. In the meantime they give you a copy of your pullorum test plate charge, that shows that you tested negative for pullorum. When you fill out the form, I would put ASAP for the date you want them to come down, maybe they will call faster.

Cobleskill is the last sunday in September. This year its on September 26th. They dont have a website but this is their contact info. Cobleskill, NY

I know there will be people selling chickens. No sure what breed though. Have you told me,, what breeds are you into?

I don't really have a breed that I am looking for, just want some variety. I have 3 sex-links, 3 BO, (From TSC), 1 EE and 1 amera. Just want acouple more for an array of colors. Are the chicks you have off light? Do you know anyone that wants some BO roos?

It looks at though there are a couple of barred rocks and cucko marans crosses and on black Ee. I do have a Del cross that is light. Might be a SLW cross. I did try to sell my SLW's for $5 each but no one wants bald birds. Thye just need some room to grow their feathers back. My CM roo was pretty hard on them . I have no saddles for them.

anyone got any help on how to get them to grow their feathers back faster? The SLW look pretty much like this aussie. I know it looks like blood but it's not just the lighting. No mites either I dust regularly. They are laying and I know that that takes away the energy to grow feathers.

So, anything else I should know about being NPIP? Do they test everything, or just a sample of the birds? And if you're showing, does each chicken you show have to be tested? Are they going to be mad if it rains and the pens are full of mud? Bleh.

Are we still allowed to buy stuff? ;p

I want to be NPIP so I can show, but I dunno if I want to be on the Govt's radar, ya know?

Hey, if you decide to eat them instead, they're half done already!

Some of mine are a touch sparse, but not that bad. Do you have multiple Roos or not enough hens for the Roo? Maybe she is just his favorite hen?

You'd probably need to pull the Roo to get them to heal up, or put those chicken aprons on them?

I have around 36 or so adults. They test a minimum of 30 birds, which was how many on mine they tested. If you show, and your NPIP, all of your birds are covered for 1 year, then you will have to be retested again. They test birds over 4 months of age, and they dont test waterfowl.

If it rains, my pens will get muddy also. I mean, there chicken/duck pens, your not going to be able to keep them pristine.

Yup, you can still buy things, but wherever you get them from, they will have to be NPIP tested also. The only reasons I wanted to be NPIP is so that I can show, and sell at shows, and ship live birds.
