Where? I don't need any roos, but I have never been to an auction...might be fun.

Sachasmom, where in upstate ny are you? How much do you want for your eggs ?
(not that i really need more, but well I can't help myself) We just got 3 chicks from my broody hen, and when she left 6 unhatched, we put them into the incubator, we got one more to hatch. yay. It was so egg-citing, we were all crowded around as little"Hope" came out of her shell. Even made a video of it! My kids and DH and I love watching and waiting the incubator is on our porch, just outside the kitchen with a chair set up next to it...there is almost always someone sitting just watching the eggs, lol.

We are in the process of building a new coop and run, so a few more feathered friends couldn't hurt, right?

I'm in Bloomfield NY (Near Canandaigua Lake, and about 40 min outside of Rochester)

I sell them here for $8.00 a dozen, Right now the pen is a Split Black Roo over Split black hens, plus two blues and a Splash. I have another Roo I'm going to put over the Blues, A straight black and the splash if I can get someone here to fix my pen! I have one Blue that I am debating about using or not... I don't like her egg color at all, and she's smaller than the other hens. I figure that might be me though, since I may have not fed enough and stunted thier growth (I like never know how much to feed them, and I swear, they would eat until they exploded if you let them!) The one Blue is running around with a Bantam Cochin Roo (I culled her Roo for copper lacing)

I just stuck a batch in the bator, so I am hoping to get some Lavs for me! I really stink at hatching, and it seems that I always manage to kill the stuff I want in the bator! If its a mutt egg, it hatches. I have a EE Roo over EE hens and RIR hens too if anyone wants those, I'd have to figure out where this weeks hiding spot is though... I've just been eating those though.

I have a Silkie brooding some eggs, IDK how that will go, she killed her last batch. Plus I think everytime a hen in the pen lays an egg, she steals it. I need to block her off I think from the other hens. I just penned in one of the bantam Cochin Pullets, its sitting on eggs (EE of course, I thought about swapping them out for Ameraucanas, but she's been on 10 of them for a couple days, and I just cannot bring myself to kill them by tossing them out! (Or killing them in my bator) My Buff ducks didn't hatch a thing, but I think they crushed the eggs. There are some under them still, but they may be new eggs the chickens keep sneaking over and laying when the ducks get up!

Anyone wanna trade Ameraucana or Cochin eggs for Duck eggs for the girls? Of course, the second I get them eggs, they'll stop setting!

I can't get my husband to get me what I need, and yesterday, he comes home with a new Rototiller??? We won't mention the two he already killed ( or the three lawn mowers) becuase he leaves them outside all winter and never maintains it! Anyone handy wanna trade me a cabinet bator for a riding lawnmower? A chicken coop?

What kind of chicks? LOL

I think there is an auction in Bridgeport week after next, why don't you take the extra stuff there? Something is better than nothing!

I'm probably going to bring all my extras there, I was going to go to the rabbit show in Ithaca, but no one is going to be buying culls, not that I have that many. Just need to free up some cage space!

I have no interest in that bridgeport auction anymore. See the auctioneer and my family used to be friends. Well we went to the same church. Then he stopped and left his wife. Well his son works there and I asked him to collect the money on a roo I dropped off as I had a wedding to go to. The son said yes. Well you can guess how that went. So I talked to the Auctioneer thinking because we "were" friends he could look into it. Well he didnt' and so if there was any money it's gone. This was not just any roo. Eric was a huge Cuckoo marans. Very nice.

So my nose is out of joint as they say.

chicks are barred rocks and a couple of crosses and an EE/Lave Amer. cross. 6 total and you can have them for free. I'd rather give them away than put any money in that jackasses pocket.

Does anyone have more info on the show at the fair? Will there be vendors, or just people showing?
rancher hicks- are you going to the show? If I can convince my wife to go, I would be interested in the chicks you have.

I want to get into showing this fall. It will be my first time showing soooo I'm clueless. I'm sure there will be a learning curve. I want to show my White, Lavender and Wheaten ameraucana's. The lavender is not a recognized color yet so I need to figure out what catagory it would go under. I plan on just doing the Yankee Classic in Syracuse and the one in Cobleskill.

I cant wait. Went last year and got 3rd place for a Light Brahma pullet. Also, Im hatching some extra silkies so I will have a couple pairs to bring and sell.

Have you ever been to Cobleskill before?

I've been to the town but never to the show. I got the infor for it last year but didn't go. This year I really want to get there. I need tips for showing. I am clueless.

Well shoot, I dropped off stuff there last week since I couldn't stay... There had better be a check coming my way! I'm kinda annoyed at Village Auction, I lost the check they sent me (I think it got tossed out) I called and left a message to have them send me a new one, nothing. Emailed them, still nothing. I guess I need to call again and light a fire under someone!

Anyone have a Link to the Fall Classic or the Cobleskil show? I really want to show too! I need to join some clubs I think? I'm probably going to show a couple Silkies at our fair in July (I'm the rabbit superintendent) and maybe some Ducks... picky person that I am, I probably will bring my own locked cages!

I dunno if there will be any vendors there, there was a ton of them at the OH show last fall. I had planned on going there, but I don't think I can, its the Sat after my trip to MN for Convention (rabbits) so I'll leave on Thurs, get home Friday night and I would have to turn around and leave again!

Shame, I really wanted to go. My husband says he *might* be game for going to Ameraucana Nationals in KY though.

Hello chicken stalker!!!!
I myself don't show any of my birds....but a very good friend of mine shows his champion Black Jersey Giants. He's trying to get me to show my BLRW's next year........they are NOT a recognized Wyandotte color(yet). But he said they can still be shown in the "Open Class". Perhaps that's the classification you're looking for concerning your beautiful Lavenders.
