Oh, I didn't know you went to the show! We need to all get BYC shirts or something to wear places so we can find each other!
It was kinda a lame show, I expected more and more for sale. I did buy a drake (from someone who lives the next town over here, so I could have saved the gas!) He's the correct breed, but man, he's rough. I think he's ancient... And possibly blind, or stupid? All he has to do is breed these hens though, so if he stays alive long enough to do that, we're good.
Something got one of my Cochin hens too while I was gone.
Why couldn't it eat one of the stupid Meat Chickens???
I suppose I might have felt the same if I hadn't won the "Eggcartons.con" hoody. I did get to talk to a few people and they told me some things I didn't know. The guys from Eggcartons were nice and answered my questions about products they had.
Did I mention they were going to talk to the Fingerlakes club about combineing the two. The fingerlakes show is in the fall. It's to bad that they don't post it here. I can't get NPIP inspected so I can't show til then. What makes these show lame is there aren't enough entries.
I was told that of the Call Duck entries a numbe of folks were no shows and the club lost money on that part.
There was a guy there who told me he didn't know my brother from the Syracuse Pigeon Club but that he knew my other brother and I just don't believe that. The brother said he didn't know is deceased and was president of the club for years and his wife was secretary. Unless he is new to pigeons.
Anyhow if anyone here goes to the next show we must have a signal or wear shirts or hats.
The eggcartons.com guy took my pic reading his catalog and said he was going to put it on their facebook site.
A friend of mine said he called with last minute entries and they wouldn't take his... I hadn't realized I could have brought sale stuff for the sale coops, I had thought you had to be NPIP to do it, but he said no...
I still don't get the NPIP thing, if I show the birds, they're supposed to be tested within what, the last ten days? Or if the flock is tested, thats good enough? I know, I'm only supposed to buy from NPIP people then?
I might just show these last couple ducks at the fair next month and maybe sell them there, rather than take them to auction. Esp since I have to drive so far to auction, and Boo! I still have yet to get a check from either of the auction places! I'm getting rather annoyed at Village Auction, I've called and emailed about it, and still nothing! Like it takes that long to look me up and cut me a new check (I seem to have thrown out the one they sent!)
I think they should post their shows here or on CL... How do they think they are going to find new people if its a secret when stuff is???
Which auction places is these? The guy at the Bridgeport auction won't send checks unless they're over $20. I wouldn't trust him, I'd wait for my money. I learned the hard way. I won't be taking anything there again and am sorry I recommended it.
I have no idea how much my Bridgeport auction check is, cuz I didn't stay. I sure *hope* its more than $20 bucks!
There is another one on Sat, so I have to decide if I really want to drive out there or not, I'd rather just CL the rest of the stuff and be done with it. I could have sold a dozen laying hens this week, LOL
Oh, and someone wants a Silkie Pullet. <sigh> I swear, I could sell sooo many chicks if I said sure, its a pullet.
Village Auction out in Sodus, they just have like four animal auctions usually, the ones at Pine Creek, and the one at their place. They *sent* the check out right away, but I mislaid/tossed it. I can't seem to get them to send another, I left a message, emailed them, nothing. I know its only for like 40 bucks, but I am soooo broke I sure could USE 40 bucks!
I've been to the Springwater auction, and thats okay. Everything is soooo far away though, most are over two hours from me! So I have to make sure I sell enough to cover my gas at least to get there!
I really like the Bath auctions, the fee is reasonable, and you can deduct what you sell from what you buy!
Well the Bridgeport guy does have a phone number on his web page. If it's still up.
Didn't I sell you some Dels. How are they doing?
There is a guy "Jeff" in Mexico that has silkies. I can get his number. Though I have no idea why anyone would want Silkies.
What are you selling?
You must check on here first before you buy elsewhere.

Hi shannonpixie- Herkimer Agway had some beautiful chicks over the last month. I ended up driving up from Rome to buy a few that I added to my mail order flock. I know that they were winding down with getting them in but Im pretty sure that you can have them order for you.
Good Morning New York Staters! I would love to be in contact with NYers. I live in the Adirondacks and have a small flock. LOVE THEM!!! What fun they are. Would love to add to my flock and it would be nice to know good contacts to get good chickens/pullets. I have been on Craigslist and have found them to be really good as a resource. Also looking for state poultry shows. Any suggestion would be great! Thanks
