This thread is really nice because if you want a specific breed or just anything, post it here and someone close may have it.

Well first let me say that the only reason for putting anything out there to show is to support the people I love which is chickens people. I've won trophies and they just collect dust. Not with chickens. Also I just would like to see the rarer breeds get some exposure. You do realize that w/o the heritage breeds we could lose the hybrid stock that is so popular. Besides trylin if I'm in your in! So we got to get tested.

Now to the newbies and chickenstock. Before you buy cheap poultry stock you need to check here. I've driven to both sides of the state to get breeds I want. Since when do Dels lay pink eggs? Hatchery birds suck! trylin, did you see my post I've got a broody Del. or so I think. She was still on the nest this morning. So we may be getting more Dels. I've seperated the WNY girls to secure some pure eggs from that line before I introduce them to the Georgia boys. Course the Georgia boys are still to young. Anyone into Dels I' won't be keeping them all so if you want a Georgia boy you might want to stay posted.

Anyone got any ideas where to hold said chickenstock? or when you'd like to have it? Anyone know any of the chicken club heads or show heads. Anyone ever have to get sponsors? Looks like my research classes might come in handy.

Lord have mercy , how do I get myself into these things. Trylin, at least I know I've got your support. ( I do don't I?)

Wishing you all the best

Rancher

I can help look for somewhere to hold a chickenstock. You mentioned the state fairgrounds, but I would assume that is a large, costly venue. In my area there are a lot of local fairgrounds that hold a lot of events and I sure could be used for such things. Anything out by you that is similar to the nys fairgrounds, but not as big? It would be ideal to have it around syracuse cause that seems to be about the center of the state. My DH is from that area, so I will ask him if he has any ideas. We may be headed out that way in the next week or so anyway and I could scope them out.

Well we do have the local "Regional farmers market" but it's not really a "farmers" market and they might be hard to deal with. Plus it's open every Saturday so that wouln't work. I wonder if we could get the Stadium parking lot nextdoor? Then we'd get exposure by the people who show up at the market nextdoor.

Ummm, how about the Minoa or East Syracuse field days parking lots??? You know, the one in Minoa is pretty central as is East Syracuse to 481 and 690 and the Thruway. Just a thought, I think you'd have to call up their respective Fire Departments and find out. Who knows maybe for a small donation, we could use those. What about library parking lots? Combine a library fundraiser along with chickenstock? Hey, I'm just throwing 'em out there! Just trying to keep you busy Rancher!! lol

Oh, alright if you insist!

You know Mark and Betsy are going to kick our respective butts don't you???!!! We're going to build the hoop coop this weekend to get all the teenagers OUT of the garage! Good Lord, what a disaster! Ugh! So as soon as all of that is cleaned up, yes, I am going to fill out the paperwork and get moving on the NPIP testing. Ummmmm, how do you feel about getting in touch with Buckeye Dave and getting on the waiting list for Buckeyes?

More dels, yeah-hello! Breed away, like I said, all the hatchery stock is going as soon as the teenagers graduate to laying. The way things are going on CL, I'm gonna have to give the darn things away! Anyone want cute black, EE/Lavender Ameraucana cross chicks? Only a 1.50 a piece, I'm going to post them on the BST on here also. Got five of them!

Sorry for hijacking!!

Hi Peggy and everyone here. I am in Hamilton NY. I started out 2 years ago with a few birds and still have the same girls. I caught the fever and am now starting to choose a few good dual purpose breeds, and get our little acre busy. Hope everything is well with everyone here.
