no hits on my 2 roo's either, I got all excited cause I had a response this morning, but it was a guy asking me if I had a manual debeaker or knew where to get one. darn, thought he was gonna take a roo! oh well, at this rate I will need a bachelor coop. Why can't roosters just get a long and share the ladies? They are all so cool looking and I love the managerie of crowing I have going on.

Well I wouldn't mind that either but I 've got 7 roos at least. Nick and the 5 Georgia boys all Delwares and the Lavender Ameraucana. Now I'm sure I'd have no problem selling the Lav but he ain't going. I would have thought someone would want a Delaware from Georgia. I will probably cull them before I give them away. If I had a place I'd raise them up and butcher them.

If you have a New Hampshire or RIR hen a Del roo can be bred to them and produce chicks with the Del pattern. This according to the Standard book. A Del hen can be crossed with a RlR or New Hampshire hen and produce sex linked chicks. Males being Del pattern and hens being red.

Well lets hope someone wants them.

I just got some BLR wyandottes a few months ago and I LOVE them. I got 2 hens and a roo from craigslist. They are so docile, so calm, that I was able to put them in with my flock (that already has a rooster) and they get along great. I hope they go broody and I can have more of them soon. I can pick the hens up anytime I want and they love it, me too. Welcome to BYC!

Good Morning rcentner!!!
I just wanted to say that the BLR Wyandottes are amazingly docile(not to mention gorgeous). I have 13 young ones and 2 full grown roos I got in February. They are the nicest, friendliest roos I have(besides Redman, that is....he's my hybrid "Baby Boy"). The BLRW's always run over to me wanting to be picked up and fussed over. I'm extremely happy with them!!!!! Enjoy yours!!!
Kathy
P.S. Roos can get along....of course it's all "individual". I have 25 roos running around here, sharing the same barn......no bloodshed(so far...and hopefully not). They'll challenge each other...but it never really amounts to anything.

Good Morning Rancher!!!!
I have 9 Delawares........all pretty young yet. From the looks of it I have 8 hens and only 1 cockeral. If I lived closer I'd definitely buy at least 3 of your Del roos. I have no way of getting to Syracuse!!!
Have a great day!!!!

Well where is Ellenville. I'll check maybe I can work something out. Binghamton looks like the half way point and I may be going there soon. Does that help? What attractions have you got around Ellenville?

Hello Rancher!!!!
Ellenville itself is (usually) pretty quiet. We have Ice Caves Mountain and hang gliding off the Ellenville Mountain locally.....and Mohonk Mountain House not too far away ion New Paltz(a very well known hotel and preserve). The biggest attraction in this area is the Bethel Center For The Arts........biult on the site of the original 1969 Woodstock site. I've never been there myself yet.......but everyone says it's quite impressive. I'm going there to see Celtic Women on July 24th. My brother is going to see Ringo Starr there this coming weekend. It's only 27 miles from my house. You can "google" it for their schedule........really great groups playing there this season. They also have a Woodstock Museum there in Bethel that's supposed to be really neat. \\
I'd really love to be able to work something out with you concerning the Delaware roos!!! Thjat'd be awesome....I could definitely use a few!!! It's one of the breeds I plan on specializing in!!! I can also ask around about your other Delaware roos.

is it just the BLR's? or any color wyandotte you think are that nice?

Hello!!!
I also have Silver Laced Wyandottes.....3 hens and 2 roos....all about a year old. I hatched them from eggs I bought online. While they're friendly, they don't quite compare to the BLRW's. I also have 3 really young Buff Wyandottes. I really love the Wyandotte breed in general....they're extremely hardy, their pea comb isn't as prone to frostbite, and many will lay well into the winter. I plan on getting more Wyandottes......Whites, Blues and Golden Laced....and hopefully some Silver Pencilled, which are really rare.

Anyone interested in any roos? I've still got one too many that need to be rehomed. I've still got a blue andalusian, a couple of easter eggers, a mille fluer duccle , and a mixed breed bantam. They mare varying ages. We just got a letter from the town today, that someone complained about the chickens and ducks. Dont know what about, but the guy isnt there till tomorrow, so will find out then. I' dont even know who complained!

Anyone else out in the Saratoga/Glens Falls/Wilton area? I see lots of chickens out this way so someone's gotta be here!
