NY chicken lover!!!!

I'm attempting to introduce the term "goat ropin' music" to a broader audience. One of my staff said the other day, "hey, isn't that goat ropin' music playing out there?" Success!

I just had a chat the other day with the old farmer who coined that phrase. I saw him and stopped to talk with him. He must be in his early 80's and is talking of selling the farm.

. In the mid 80's he taught me the term Goat ropin music. I've used it ever since

"Goat Ropin'" music.. ROFL. I'm an 80's chick from LA, so I don't go in for country music. There's pics of me all over the net with poofed hair and spandex. YIKES. hahaha..

As for chicken dispersal, yep, working on that also. So far I have sold more chickens off than I can count and there's still more to be 'dispersed'. All of my 'originals' are gone, which makes me sad but most went to good homes (one home I'm not so sure about). I'm only a 'temporary hoarder' - I hatch a ton then spread the wealth to those in need!

I just wish the hens would stop going broody so I could call a halt FOR SURE to any more additions and make plans for who will end up where.

Hello,
I am looking for Polish frizzle chicks or hatching eggs. I live between Ithaca and Binghamton, in NY, but also travel often south east to Scranton and East Stroudsbug, PA.
I would love to find fellow chicken addicts in my area, to learn from and compare notes with, I hope this is the right place to post.

Also looking for good quality silkies and would love to find a local breeder before I mail-order.

Twist of fate= There is a farm in Waterville NY that had a listing for breeding trio of Blue splash silkies on craigslist. They always have nice looking birds from what I have seen. Got my ducks from them check it out the post was about 4 days or so ago.

Just found my second egg!!!

Is it possible that the same chicken would lay an egg 2 days in a row? It's another brown egg and was in the same box. I'm thinking it was a different hen...since they are just starting?

We call it window lickerism where I come from! Lol...I hatch around 150 starting in March...keep everything that I need and sell all the rest only to realize I didnt sell much and kept most...panic and start to sell everything only to realize I left my self not much! I go through the same thing every year!

I get calls quite a bit for hens. I just can't keep raising them just to sell them at a loss. Folks don't want them til their ready to lay and don't understand what it takes to bring them to that point. I sold my 4 SFH's for $90 and that was a loss.
