NY chicken lover!!!!

We call it window lickerism where I come from! Lol...I hatch around 150 starting in March...keep everything that I need and sell all the rest only to realize I didnt sell much and kept most...panic and start to sell everything only to realize I left my self not much! I go through the same thing every year!

DH and I are currently under going a treatment for morehens called fowl dispersal program and attending morehens anonymous meetings on the weekends. But I have a feeling once spring comes again morehens will be back with a vengeance.
My symptoms start to become apparent shortly after Jan 1, with greater flushing around president's Day and full on fever,by March. Starts to abate in June if I get a few get hatches.

When people reduce their own flocks, through sales or gifts, they are in the contagious stage...
Yup I guess that's it. I'm highly contagious! Watch out for the lady trying to pawn chickens!

Today is going to be a busy one. Started treating our birds. Ivermectin for the young stock and eprinex for the layers. The bugs are at a record high this year. Dang weather! Need to clean some pens and shovel the horse area too. Maybe mow the weeds to level them off to grass level because the grass isn't growing. Our hay came yesterday and they'll be bringing I think one more load today. Whew!

I mowed the weeds in a couple of sittings last week, and must have shaved a quarter inch off some grass because you couldn't see it but it blew on and stuck to the skin, yuck! Today I have pinned DH down and he is working on the coop! It is perfectly habitable, but I am getting tired of reading Zip Wall all the time. It would be nice to have something finished.

Looked out my bathroom window 5 minutes ago and saw our resident boar bear strolling down the road like he owns it. He is a big boy, probably around 275 pounds with a big head. Interestingly, he walked right on by the coops without even acknowdging them. The hens were all sitting up on the roost in their run looking at him. He just trucked on down the road, crossed the main one and kept going. I will say the chickens did get awful quiet! Dh ran out and got pics so I will post some after he uploads them.

Dh has camera but no gun/ The white pole you see to the left in the pic is the portable run the hens are in. He may look small in the pic, but he was big. He also let Dh know that he didnt appreciate him following him to get pics.
