NY chicken lover!!!!

I officially have an ugly molter. My Sussex hen has gone from her usual sleek self to looking like five miles of bad road over two days. She hasn't lost all her feathers, but I wouldn't be surprised if she went that way, as she's losing her feathers in patchy spots. The poor thing looks appalling. Of course, she has no clue that she looks like a waif, so she's still strutting her stuff, bossing other hens around. It's sort of pathetic, really.

I have one rooster that looks like he was on the losing side of a tornado. And one hen who is almost as bad. The Pekin's are growing their feathers in nicely, but it looks like a duck exploded in their coop

If you don't mind me asking

where did you see Cochins for sale in Tully? Is there an ad? I have been searching for a Cohin Roo for months!
What color cochins do you want. As soon as I get my new hens laying I'll be selling. Here are my roosters. They are a part of my Lemon blue Cochin project. They are 8 months old so they will mature a lot still. If

I LOVE the coloring on this bird! Will you have any more like this in the future?
Hoping next spring. I will defianately have them but it takes a couple months before you can predict there color as the lemon blue is a work in progress. Ralf is mine even though I'm waiting to get him shipped to me. I purchased him from wwmicasa1. It was to hot to shgip when I did purchase him so right now I've got Bruce and his hens. Here is 1 of my hens.

Abbie

Here is a ling to some of wwmicasa1's old breeding stock. The only 1 she still has is lemon boy. Now her breeding stock is much better but this thread shows you what you can hatch.

Bruce will look like Spook.

Hi, I live in Markham Ontario, love to have chicken, but unfortunately can't in Markham, do you have any info. about legal issues of having chickens in backyard of Markham? Thanks.

In some cases no one in charge really knows. It's been so long since they've had to look into such things. I found information on line and looking at "zoning" and "ordinances" and finally called and asked what I was zoned. Then looked up what it meant since the person who told me didn't know.

Ok so let me see if I can remember what every one said.

Glass, def looks like a sexlink. Can't trust some breeders much less staff at TSC and CM and other places. Still my op has changed and I say if you like them who gives a hoot what they are.

Henni - is that the chick you got at the meet? They weren't only two or three days old. I brought what I thought were the ones who were born the closest, but since they were all only a day or two apart it was hard to tell. Not to worry though there are or will be more where they came from. I've got four hens sitting on eggs.

I've tossed all the others in with the hen I have separated and she's taken them all in and now has eight to brood. No broody light to put on.

You should have seen her looking around. Since she now has four black and four yellow chicks she looked confused.

Now who wanted standard Cochins? There are some at the fair and the guy has his name on the cages so I'll see if I can get his name and phone number for you and you can see what you can do. Huge birds. Jeff shows at the fair and other shows in the spring.

But to be honest some birds didn't look so good. There were birds there with bald backs and just looked ragged. There are two who bring a lot of birds. I posted pics of last years birds. No Dels that I recall this year though.

Tab - tell Travis ( is that his real name?) that I figured a good thing about those buckets nest boxes he showed me. If you tip them up at night it will keep birds from nesting in them. I have two frizzles who do it and only because I favor them do I let them. However if there is a broody your trying to break, if you kick her out at night she can't get back in.

My poor NN molter is VERY sad and I don't even think she's done yet. NN aren't big hens to start with and are already missing half their feathers, so they are a pitiful sight when molting. Plus my poor lead rooster Leo is molting and has one tail feather left - sticking straight up!
