I'm very sorry. Weasels are terrible killing machines. I lost 9 in one night, all in the coop to a weasel. Somewhere you have a tiny hole as small as 1 inch x 1 inch. Find it and fix it as the weasel will be back.Heartbroken...
I went to feed the chickens this morning and discovered a predator got in last night. I'm guessing a weasel. Feathers all over and necks broken. Nothing eaten. Killed 7 hens. 5 black australorps and 2 red sex links. I know it could have been much worse. I still have 29 left, 2 being roosters. No others are injured.
Spending the day cleaning, setting traps and reinforcing.
My heart just sank when I saw that this morning.
Weasels are darn near impossible to trap.
If the necks are just broken don't waste the birds. If you won't butcher them yourself give them to someone who will.
I am very sorry. Been there too many times. Well twice to a big attack like that. Once a weasel, once a mink. Consider yourself VEY VERY VERY lucky. Weasels usually kill EVERYTHING in the coop just for the sport of it.
