Since beetles lay the eggs to start the whole cycle again, I put them in a fresh container, so when I finish the mealworms in that particular container, I can toss the frass into a houseplant w/o fear of the plant sprouting mealworms from the eggs that were layed.

We have the beetles in a separate container, and the in between meal worms and beetles in another serrate container.

Well looks like the hatch is done. There is one EE egg pipped and I can't remember if it started yesterday or not but I'll give it some time.

I hope the EE has better luck with her Marans eggs. I will check these later and see what is what.

Who else here hatches Marans eggs? What kind and how has your hatch been? I will be researching and trying to find out if this may be a problem with this line or it's me.

I will of course be trying again. I'm no quitter.

got home around 8 or so.  Had to collect eggs and nearly forgot about the hatch I'm so tired. 

There was the one BM still trying to get out of the egg.  I opened the darn incu and took it out and finished the job.  It was just hanging there over the edge of the shell.  

Then there was an EE still working and I in frustration just took the darn thing out and crush the shell some do it could get out. 

So it stands so far at 1/8 on the BM's, 6/11 on the EE's, 5/8 on the Dels,  4/5 on the CRs.    16/32 eggs.  

I am really disgusted with the BM's.  I can't figure out why they don't hatch.  I ran the humidity low like suggested.  Only two pipped.  The one just made a hole and gave up.  

I have had much better hatches.  I may buy another thermometer/hygrometer and put them both in and see if there is a discrepancy.   

Anyhow I'll have to wait til tomorrow to move everyone to a brooder.

Sorry not a good batch. Did anything happen over night or they all done now?

Thanks for all replays about the meal worms. I just left them in the fridge was running around too much this morning getting brooder cleaned and van packed. We are on the road now. Put a bigger water dispenser in the brooder since I don't know how many times a day people are going to check on pets. Wife was just like. " so in so is taking care of the animals" . Grrrr hate vage responses like that.

Lady at work said put marbles in water so chicks don't drown. How often do they drown? Only one I may worrie about is wife's little bantam. I tried to watch them today but was kinda busy so didn't see the little bugger drink.

1. It's over pretty much. I'll give this last EE some more time.

2. The meal worm thing looks like something I'd like to start, but perhaps I should be buying them? What is their purpose?

3. I've never had a chick drown. The waterers are a safe design and unless the chick is drunk , it's not likely to fall in and drown. I just keep the waterer away from where they sleep. On one end of the brooder a ways away from the light.

I'm venturing a guess here. You are much younger than I and just discovering the music I grew up with or listened to in my mid 20's. Guns and roses was a great studio band. I saw them live. It was like watching drunk 12 year olds play. It was terrible. In the mid 90's when G&R broke up Slash knew Axel was insane. I mean insane, not just a little nuts. So when Axel DEMANDED the rights to the name Guns and Roses Slash said...take it...I want to be DONE with you.
Then Axel became a washed up wanna be. Slash formed Slash's Snakespit, then Velvet Revolver, now his own solo stuff. So here I'll disagree. Slash is one very talented guitar player who has made a very successful career playing really good music. Axel is a....well, this is a family forum....
