NY chicken lover!!!!

Evening all. Had to bring my silkie tots back inside today. I noticed one was limping a little when I placed it in logolas coop last night but figured it wasnt really anything. This morning it was really limping, not wanting to put weight on it. I gently checked for any breaks but couldnt find any. I also checked its hips, no discernable problems. I do see a little neurological thing going on as well. I am wondering if one of the rir chicks pecked it and jumped on it while they were all together in the pen yesterday. They can be rambunctious and it hasnt been a problem till now. Anyways, I brought the two silkie babies back into the brooder box with food and vitamin water and a light. I am hoping with time and some rest, it will get better. They were cuddled up together when I came upstairs.

The rir tots survived their first night just fine. I put them out when I got home in their pen. The girls pretty much ignored them but one of the barred rocks from the terrorist coop came over and was threatening them and trying to get at them. Rosey, the largest chick, wasnt having it and went right back after her, hackles raised, staring and jumping and pecking. I think I am going to have to change her name to Roger. Would not give and inch and the others were hiding behind him/her. The barred rock finally left. I did notice that they did not offer any kind resistance or defiance to Olaf when he came by and checked them out. They all stood in the center of their pen while he was standing next to it looking at them. I think they got the message as to who the head roo is. Until freezer camp that is. My divas are only a little put out at the new roommates. However, they have been getting a little extra and get to eat up the tots spilled food and eat out of their food can when I bring it out so they dont mind so much. Just trying to show them the benefits of roommates! Have to fix up the skirting and run this weekend. Dh thinks blood will be spilled but we shall see. I will be supervising the whole time and ready for whatever happens. Hoping its nothing.

Ta for now. Working a double tomorrow so its off to bed.

LOL Was skimming CL and came across this ad:

"I am looking for a one or two loud big crowing roosters. I am not looking to pay for them. I would like to pick them up in or around Williamstown. Please email me or text 315-466-1716. TY The rooster or roosters must be friendly. I have been attacked by roosters in the past and I am only looking for friendly roosters."

Looks to me like someone is trying to tick off a neighbor! LOL

I finally uploaded the good pics from my camera...I know you all are sick of seeing pictures

Probably the neighbor has chickens and a rooster that is ticking HIM off, so he wants show the neighbor how it sounds to live next door to them. I say "I'd rather hear a rooster crow than a dog bark ANY TIME"

Meeee Toooo!!! We have a Dachshund and although he's not a barker, he will bark at anyone new who comes to the door and I can't even stand that! I shouldn't get mad cuz you just never know when that day will come and his bark will save you but I can't stand it when a dog barks all day long over nothing.

my dachshund bzrks at neighbors people who come in or if you pound on the wall. He is the reason i won't use chicken wire low to ground on anything. I was in NC and i lined the fence with it to keep him from digging. Well he dug down then chewed through it and inder the fence he went. He digs all in my yard now that it's infested with moles. He breaks his nails completely off and still digs.

Wow! Mine is lazy and definitely not a digger! Is yours shorthaired? I swear there is a difference in temperament difference in the short haired and long haired dachshunds! Lol Every long haired doxie I've ever met has definitely been more calm and laid back than the short haired. My dog is definitely a doxie in rare form tho! But then again people have told me its just the way we raise our animals-needy And spoiled! Lol

I so wish I lived closer and didn't work crazy hours. Your birds are beautiful!

edited to add: I love my BLRW the best and I really like the idea of the laced brahma's. Big poofy butts and full feathered feet--gorgeous!
