NY chicken lover!!!!

Everyone must be either working or enjoying the nice day because this thread is usually hopping. Hung out laundry then moved on to raking up fresh mowed grass for the animals. Chickens and horses love it. My aunt took my buckeye roo to replace the one the raccoon got this spring and then I moved the hens in with another group. I cleaned out the pen and DH helped me move our keepers from the first hatch and TSC leghorns down to the fresh pen. They graduated down to the big bird area. My LG batch of eggs went into lock down today and there weren't many that looked good. The LG temp is too irregular even with the fan installed.

Ah man just seen a bird i love wife will kill me if i try to get any though. Soooo....

Rancher your a nice guy buy all of these https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...th-frizzled-avaialble-will-ship#post_11223034 raise them and breed them and then next spring/summer i'll come dig some holes for some chicks lol.

Anyways fun day at work I walk in and things are already going wrong we have to pump like 4500 gallons of juice down the drain because we didnt have enough caps to cap the bottles. I cant wait to hear it next week seeing this aint our juice we are co-packing it for another company and we just got the contract with them.

well back to work see what else can go wrong since i got put in charge of my line today.

We have deer netting over the run, and it works very well. The only problem we've had is the blasted squirrels chewing holes in it occasionally. However, the squirrels are now avoiding the run, as the Khakis gang-rush them and terrify them. Guard ducks!

Rat traps work very well for squirrels. I have one screwed to a tree up where the chickens can't get at it. Set it with some peanut butter and no more eggs being stolen from the coop. Caught three squirrels. Those buggers even stole the wooden eggs!

Not a chance. I'm wrestling with which of my breeds to give up now. I'm considering the Lavender orps. I've got too many eggs, too many chickens and chicks. I like to keep things pure so it means giving up a breed or building another coop and I'm just to tired.

Plus I'm rather discouraged as I've got either an orp or Cr that are laying blood eggs and a BR that is laying a blood egg and it's bad for sales. Even if I had sales. Mostly giving egg away.

I was riding around the county doing this:

actually those are my gardens..... I did this one and 3 others today. Then worked around our yard for 4 more hours.

Maybe they thought the wooden eggs was an egg tree. Instead of acorns it makes eggs.

Sorry to hear about the blood eggs hopefully you can find out which ones it is.

I'm not keeping anything pure i'm makeing a rainbow flock and haveing an ameracauna roo so everything will be EE'S!! All maybe after a few years i may deside to have a coop or two of set breeds. I am trying to buy nice birds to make my ee's though not mixed breeds except the ones i have already.

Stony, my back aches just looking at the machine, much less walking behind it for hours.

Got some seeds in myself today.

Bee man came and put a hive in my yard. Love it. Hope it increases my pollination on my crops. Seemed like I had a awful lot of blossom drops last year. Lack of pollination is one of the few reason for that happening. Forgot what the other reason is, so I hope the bees fix it.

GrammaChick came and took all but 4 of my chicks. I am very happy to have their little peeping selves out of the back porch. Was nice to have a face to put with the name.
Now to clean the icky brooder (I didn't bother to stress the chicks cleaning it before she came. The stress of the selection process would be enough for one day)

Beautiful day. Hope everyone got done what they wanted to get done today.
