NY chicken lover!!!!

I'm about 10 minutes from Albany, NY and I have two roos I need to find homes for. Both are about 5 weeks old. One is a French Blue Copper Marans and the other is a French Black Copper Marans. These are pure-bred birds, NOT from a hatchery. I would love to keep them, but would end up being divorced. :) Would like to find them a good home, rather than the crock pot since they are pure-breds. I can be reached at purrfectpetsitting(at)hotmail.com

Photo shows blue in the back and black in the front.

I got some new pics of the Cochins- Remington

As always, great pics! I have to show you pics of the ones I kept - they are gorgeous! And Nugget is just a stubby little man - he's already trying to show off for the ladies. :) Love Ace, he's not one of your usual colors, right?

So far 16 chicks from your eggs and I see another zipping now. :) I know at least one of the frizzles hatched and there's a lot of tiny banties running around.

My house is so hot the chicks are passed out snoozing about 6 inches from the edge of the ecoglow. room temp, about 79-80 in that room. Take that, "Must be 95 degrees or your chicks will DIE". :p

Nugget may be small now but he will mature to be an extremely typey boy. His parents are really nice in the type category and are the best Cochins I have. Ace is not a usual color and I can't replicate it as his mother died. She was a very rare LB hen and and only happened because of the breeder who I got mine from lost their top Cochin rooster. If you have extras again let me know. I am trying to find better roosters.

Country Boy - beautiful birds! I love all the names you pick out at well, they suit each one well!

County Boy,

I agree with Lynzi. I always look forward to seeing your photo's and gorgeous birds...and those names are great.

Pyxis,

Sorry about the loss of your favorite hen to the neighbor's new pup. That's just awful. Hope the other hen will be OK. I also hope your neighbor is sincere and makes a big effort to keep his animals on his own property.

Vodka Lady,

WELCOME to BYC!

Lynzi,

Did I miss something? Are you moving?

As for the latest news here, I mingled the big sisters with the little sisters today in the outside pen. As usual, the rocks came dashing up to try to get a peck or two in, but I interceded. Even the Del took a pot shot today, but it was half-hearted, not like the rocks. Helen, the Maran, always seems to be thinking. I know she would have liked to get a crack in, too, but I swear I could see her "thought bubble" and I truly think she realized I would have none of that. I'm having to play rooster, I guess. The little ones are definitely growing, but so are the bigger girls, so I'm not sure they're exactly catching up as fast as I'd like.

Have a good week, everyone.

TOB - my husband keeps having meeting with the owner (who he'll be working directly for in this new position) and he really wants us to move to a more centralized location. But not in any rush. By next August we'll have to start looking. I told my husband I will do everything in my power to bring my "farm" with us! Lol we're going to look into buying our next property since we'll be there a while.

Funny of the night: I was outside tonight roasting marshmallows with the kids and as always the three bigger girls come running over to see what ever food it is we have available. Well my son was trying to take his marshmallow off the stick and up jumped one of the BR's to grab it. So of course it fell to the ground and the three hens are going at it like crazy. I have never seen three hens try to get marshmallow off their beaks before! We were laughing so hard. My kids were dying! It was quite the scene!

I got most of my coop run assembled between rain showers today! No roof yet, but fencing up and door mostly assembled.

I got some new pics of the Cochins- Remington

Hey Countyboy....if you're interested I may have to forfeit my Lil Roo Fearherz gave me from your PB and Honey. He's bullying the two silkies I thought he'd eventually end up pairing up with. I haven't totally integrated the big littles with the big girls so time will tell...... Any feedback on what behaviors should and should not be tolerated?!? Would you be interested in taking him back if I end up having to rehome him???

Got the youngest babies outside 2 Brabanters 1 Ancona 1 Welsummer and 1 Salmon Faverolle. I put them in with My Barred Rock (laying hen) and 6 Amber Sex Links that are 14 weeks and as big as my barred rock well almost. They have had several introductions and now they are in a pen inside he run. The two silkies one white and one partridge are in a separate coop and run, my white silkie attacks the babies so that is a no go right now. I was worried but now I'm just happy to get my brooder box out the house! I'm going to use it for injured/sick birds from now on. I'm getting another coop in August so I can't make adjustments if personalities aren't working or for some unlikey reason someone goes broody.

Well all good night and may the morning find you well!
