Morning all. Still yucky here with humidity and temps. Baby shower yesterday was nice and we got an awesome view of the nasty thunderstorms that rolled through our area yesterday afternoon. I love a good light show.
The tater tots and the divas seem to have reached an understanding in the coop. Betty is not being as mean and the rest of the girls are tolerating the upstarts. Uncle Bill, one of the little cockerals, has been sparring a bit with his brother and roosting up with the big girls. He takes his pecks with a squawk but refuses to get down. The other tots roost on the smaller roost I put in there. Dh let both groups out last night to freerange and there were no problems. The tots ran all over and had a great time. Everyone ignored them including Olaf. He, however, decided to challenge me last night and I ended up whacking him up side the head a few times with a board. Dh chased him around the yard for quite a while with the correction tool. I think its time for him to go. His replacements are growing nicely and I am sure the hens would love a break and be able to grow back their feathers.
My silkie girl is holding tight on her eggs. I will have to candle them at the end of the week and see exactly how many she is on. Of course my girl Sarah in the other pen has now gone broody as well. Rancher---you are spreading broody disease! Cut it out!!! Not sure yet if I will give her a couple of eggs to hatch. I know I am not raising any more inside as I just got them all out of my basement!!!
Back to the pharm today. Its monday so that means crazyness. Later peeps.
