NY chicken lover!!!!

It's so nice to be home. Work has been crappy this week, following the when it rains it pours method. My belly is feeling like a rock and my tail bone area is really aching. I have to go collect then wash eggs so I have enough for my customer that comes today too. After that I am hoping to spend some time sitting down.

Lynzi-- nice chicks!

I have been sitting since 11......Mowing! Now to go finish, then riding my horse with a friend at 5....I like it when I accomplish a lot!!

My newspaper customer who was throwing away all those mason jars a few months ago surprised me again this morning. They were throwing away 31 dozen size egg cartons! I jumped out of the car and grabbed those up. I love getting out before the trash guys on Thursday!
Nice Find! I'm still waiting on my DH to bring home cartons from work - they're not the 12 dozen, they're just the sheets but I can at least cut them and stack them in the my fridge. Still hasn't done it!

Does anyone have any eggs they want hatched? These two broodies are stubborn. I may give them eggs and then just get rid of the chicks. I suppose I could try moving them to another coop or in with the Dels.
I wish I had more eggs to hatch! My black hen hasn't been much of a layer. I'm glad I got at least one hatched chick from her though! My splash hen isn't laying since she's sitting on 4 eggs. I wish I could hatch some of these larger eggs but they're not fertile now that Duncan is in the penalty box. ~Meant to add - I think my two BRs are about to go broody as well! They're fanning out their feathers and being so mean to everyone! One went after my dog today and made him yelp the loudest he's ever yelped before. They sure are mean little buggers!

Breella great find! I garbage pick all the time Rancher I'm making a cart for the dogs to pull to make it easier on me. I've been working them with weights n of course running so now that they are 2 they are ready for some real work!
Meant to comment to YOU before about the dogs. (I really need to stop reading on my phone while I'm sitting out in the sun. LOL) This is really cool, hope it works out well and they work hard for you!

Tab ~ Sorry to hear about your hatch, thats awful. I know you hatch a lot at a time so I can only imagine the disappointment.

3rd Chick hatched! Looks like a splash or lavender. Not sure what the possibility of getting one or the other is from the pairing bred. But it's definitely a cutie!!

Woohoo! I just got home and let the silkies out and checked on Eowyn to see if she needs her eyes treated (she does) and I find a tiny new chick under her! Either a splash or porcelain silkie baby! Another egg is zipping now and she still has 4 more under her as well. I think they might be a day or two behind. I am so happy to see that baby. She will be in charge of raising them. Hoping all of them hatch and I get a few hens. I congratulated Legolas on becoming a daddy and he just bawked at me and ran off with the other two girls. I called him a deadbeat dad and thanked him for making me responsible for his offspring. I think they are going to be gorgeous. I will post pics when they are all hatched. I dont want to disturb Eowyn too much by picking her up and such. I will have to deal with her eyes but in the coop if I can. I think she is going to be a good momma. Now I have to go get chick feed!

All the other cheeps are out relandscaping the landscape and trying to figure out how to trick dh out of his dinner. Instead of Gangs of New York its Gangs of the Backyard here!

Later!
