Hi i live near buffalo and I'm looking to hatch ducklings, but idk where to find out if it is legal to have ducks in my town. i googled and it said that having pet ducks in nys was illegal. any advice welecomed

Always that isn't quite true some types of ducks and geese are protected. But there are plenty of ducks to choose from. Good luck in your search. Welcome it's great to have you here.
Our Garden -- Weeds esp grass are growing great ..I pull them & give them to the chickens when they are in the run .
We have cukes , corn , peppers , yellow Squash , Got 3 colors of beans ... ... tomatoes are starting to come on .still green little things .

Check your local town hall. "Near buffalo" could be right out side city limits or like 30 min a way each could make a big difference. You need to see what your area is zoned for and what the regulations are for your area. Example some towns allow chickens no roosters. As for ducks i dont know if they would have a set rule like that but maybe.If they causes problems you may have to get rid of them. Each town,village,township,city is different and have they're own rules and regulations. If you say which your in someone on here might be there. I'm an hour south of buffalo in forestville and i dont have any regs that i know of but i'm in middle of no where.

Morning all! Spent time outside with all the cheeps yesterday. They were very happy to be out of their coop/run and freeranging. My silkie babies are growing like weeds and one is definately a splash and the other looks like its going to be a light blue, which I was hoping for.
My rir boys are both crowing now and are interested in the ladies. Roger is the more dominate roo and likes the 2 young rir girls. Bill, who wont be touched, is trying to woo the divas, who have never had roos in with them till now(they are over 3 years old). His technique is lacking. He tries to ambush them and jump on them. I hear them scream then they shake him off and proceed to chase him and beat on him. Their sisters come to help them out. He spends more time running away from the beatings than getting on them. Hilarious. I told him these are refined ladies. He must take them out to dinner, have some pleasant conversation, dance with them and then maybe they will aquiece to his request. Didnt listen to a word I said. Boys are slow learners. Roger is a little better but not much.
Roger got too close to Little Mans space yesterday and the two of them went at it. Having a rir roo and a silkie roo fighting is not a good thing. Little Man is 3 and not about to back down besides his small size and Roger, though inexperienced, is big and also wont back down. I had to break it up quick so nobody got hurt. I think Little Mans pride got hurt but I will have to make sure that at least one of them is locked up when freeranging. The potential is there for more serious conflicts.
Ugh,,,back to work again. I certainly enjoyed my time off. Hope everyone has a good day. Oh...forgot to mention that I have a dozen silkie hatching eggs is anyone is interested. Pm me if you are.

whatever town/village/city you live check at the Town hall. I know in Hamburg you can only have hens....no other poultry or water fowl unless your rated agricultural.
Most town/village/city goverment's also have a website that usually list the towns ordinances and what you can and cant do
Morning All,
Another busy day for me today. The dreaded trip to the Pedi with the kids is this afternoon and of course I have a pit in my stomach. If it was just my son I was bringing I'd be fine, but I decided to make my 4 yr olds wellness check as well and just get it over. I know she's going to need a shot or two and ugh, I am just dreading this. She's horrible for any doctor I bring her to.
Ke5hde and his wife were so kind as to helping me out with my duck situation and lack of girls. I picked up two female runners from them yesterday. LOVE them! They are so beautiful. Now I have to decide what to do with these magpies. They are so pretty I don't want to let either go but I don't want my girls to be stressed out by them and their hormones either. Now sure if I'll wait to see which one ticks me off first, or if I should remove both from the situation and add a male runner so I could hatch pure runner eggs next year instead of mixes. Got a lot of thinking to do....I'll try to post pics later of the runners. I'm keeping them in the run for a couple of days to keep anyone from running off.
On another note, I've been dealing with a weird situation at work. I have 1 week left and this had to happen now! I'm in the process of quality checking these reps from India who are processing our work. Also, we have an Instant Messaging system we use at work and they've been IMing me during my work day to ask questions and such which is fine. Well this one kid started conversation with me the other day about how my co-worker told him we are losing our jobs. (This girl is such a nut and will talk to ANYONE!) So whatever, quick convo and back to work talk we were. That night I'm outside rearranging my duck coop and pen and my phone goes off from my back pocket. I look at it and it's my FB messenger, this kid from India has managed to find me on FB, not only send me a message but also sent me a friend request! WTH?!? I didn't accept it, I responded to his message, said hello and told him I was running to the store so I couldn't talk. But I did ask him how he found me and he informed me he found me thru my co-worker! I cannot believe she is talking to these people on FB. Then again, she WILL talk to anyone who will give her the time of day so I shouldn't be surprised. This morning at 5AM he sends me more messages on FB and I'm woken up at the crack of dawn to these notifications on my phone. Ignored them completely, went back to bed and here I am wondering how to handle this situation. I really don't need any drama at work 7 days before my last day. Just crazy, Hopefully next week will fly by and I can be free from all this chaos. Sorry for the vent but I just find this nuts!

block the freak on FB. Once you have blocked them they can no longer send messages to you. If they call again tell them the Police are tracing your calls.Morning All,

Yea I was just looking into doing this as I have my FB up now. And don't worry, no calls. I don't have my phone number listed anywhere on there, it's just the messenger app on my phone that going off and sending me notifications for these messages he was sending. So once I block him that should take care of that! UGH, I hate skeevy people!

Is this someone you ever have to deal with again? I wouldn't be worried about messages from him. He can be blocked. I'd be worried over the fact that SHE'S giving out your personal information. You may want to think about dropping her a note. Not nasty, but to the point (make sure it's not nasty, but to the point, in case it gets back to your boss). She obviously doesn't realize how damaging it can be to give out information like that. This way, you don't need to cause drama in the workplace, but it might spare someone else in the future from being her next "victim".
