poultry fair schedule ;

large fowl the first 5 days, then bantams the last 5 days. They switch on Tuesday so there isn't much there that day.

I was just looking at that last night. I didn't know where state fair is located and I wanted to see how they did chicken shows. I think next year we are going to have my son enter. Him and my daughter desided they want some buff silkies. Her for pets him for show. Looks like i'll need to build them a little coop of they're own.

We got a silkie egg today it was so small looked like one of my normal girls fart eggs. My daughter was so excited that her silkie layed an egg. I couldn't scramble it in with the others she had to have it by it's self. So I made her a fried egg sandwich.

The weird thing is the silkie that everyone thinks is a roo was sitting in the nest box. Wife said both was in the box earlier today but every time we went out he was in there, and the other was making noises walking around the coop. Now he didn't get out of the box for awhile. I don't think it got out till the other laid an egg. But we didn't find the egg in the nest box we got it off floor. So is he blocking her from laying in the box or do I maybe have two hens?

Are these the TS silkies? I had two silkies last year that were TS quality looking. They had single combs, wattles, no feet/leg feathering and everyone kept telling me mine looked like a roo. Then she layed an egg. Those TS silkies can be difficult to sex until they lay an egg or start crow.

Look what I scored ? Yesterday ! Free Wood ...This was behind Bonton Camillius .
I parked there till my hubby came with the van ..and we loaded it
2 new pallets & 6 sheets of press board , 4 1/2 sheets , framing boards .
Hubbys planning on boxing in our deck on one side ...I thought it would go to the chickens ...
Maybe it will later ...

I have been going to the State Fair for as long as I can remeber. Because my family cooks breakfast, they camp out there. I have gone every year for 25+ years. With even living in Maryland for summer I still made it for at least a weekend. There has only been 1 year that I haven't gone and that was 3yrs ago. My son was born during the fair (25th) and my husband wouldn't let me go with a new born. I love it and make sure that I stop and see the vendors that I grew up with.

I'll be there on the 25th till about 11 when we stop breakfast, then I have to head home. My husband leaves to go out on the road for the week on Sundays and I need to be home before he leaves. That and it is my son's birthday. If you want to say hello, I'll be next to the poultry building.
