I KNOW!!! I can't believe how itty bitty by new silkie babies are!

First I can't stand snow. I hate, hate, hate it!

Now I think the black one may be a silky but can't tell cuz they are the same size at the rest. Pretty much. We are now up one more and this one an Alabama chick.

So we're 9/21. There are a few more pips one of which is new. Still no sign from the last silky egg.

Still no call from Patty either.

Mads - you gotta post where you is from. Please it help to picture it in my uninfected mind.

Rancher--I'm from just below Kingston. This is what has taken over:

The mind control has begun. If all 10 in the bator hatch, I am doomed!!!

Grew up in Boonville so I know where you guys are. Moved south for college some years back and ended up staying. Love reading your posts though. Not quite the same down here. Hope your silkie mind control deflector works better than mine did! How many have you hatched so far?

Have 3 silkies so far. They got a funny look in their eyes. That's how I can tell which ones they are. I plan to make little tin foil hats for them so I don't have to wear mine all the time.

I just like to know where everyone is. I'm not opposed to drive a distance if there is something I want. Just not silkies. Have you looked at Chapel Farms web page and seen her silkies?

No but I will look her up now. I just wanted a few for pets but only 1 hatched out of the 6 eggs I got off ebay. It was my first time hatching. Simplysplendidsilkies was kind enough to hook me up with more eggs and her birds are gorgeous. Show quality. She wanted me to have a good experience. So far so good. Lockdown is in 1 week.

I have 4 barred rocks and 4 goldenlaced wyanndottes. First time chicken owners and it has been great. My girls are good layers. I have decided, however, that next spring I will be raising Javas. I like the heritage breeds and want a dual purpose bird for eggs and eating. I am looking longterm project. I figure the silkies could act as surrogates if I need them. Right now I am getting the big stinkeye and lots of bawking about the evil white stuff. Apparently its my fault that the snow is back when they have finally gotten to enjoy some freerange time.

You better make lots of silkie hats. Their mind control is pretty powerful!!!

I'd be glad to sell you chicks, but I only sell straight run. Unfortunately, I'm pretty small scale, not a hatchery. If I started selling only pullets, I'd have nothing but roosters...lol. I do sell started pairs later in the season. Ahhhh, while I'm on "disclaimers" -- I also won't sell lavender without splits yet. Although my Lavender Project Orpingtons look more "orpy" than most, they're still a work in progress. The splits are from my lavs & an English import line to add more size & refine the shape. The chicks from the lav + split mating will be finally be Orpingtons, not projects. I see way too many "pure lavender orpington" eggs from birds that look more like Marans. When I got mine from Jody, she said she wanted to sell them to people who would finish them. So that's exactly what I'm doing.

Rancher ----- How's your hatch going?

Still interested, please let me know. Thank you.

Happy Country Hens.

Happy - Are you talking to me? ARE YOU TALKIN TO ME?!!!

I'm still at 9 with a few more pips. I'm hangin on as long as i can. I've got to put together another brooder for these. I plan to go and buy new bin since I have chickens or chicks in all of them. I've to a broody in one on 5 eggs and a young rooster who got his leg caught. He may be ready to go back in the coop though.

I'm booked to go to Alabama next month and things are busy as heck here.

I've still yet to hear from Patty and I know I shouldn't worry but I do. Some folks just don't care about others. I just wish she'd call and let me know what going on. Even if she can't get here right away, she could at least call. Though I'd like her chicks gone asap. If I had paid for them I would just say forget it and sell them. I don't like being responsible for other peoples chicks. Cept maybe trylin cuz she's my friend and she wouldn't hate me if something happens.

Well take care. Reading the new issue of Practical Poultry magazine.
