NY chicken lover!!!!

Does anyone want a mini Banana tree. It will grow to 5-6feet and in 2-3 years have 3-4inch bananas. I have a big tree that has sprouted 2 baby trees. If any one has a green thumb and high ceilings and wants one let me know. I have to either give them away or I'll have to trow them out. My plant is big enough already, I don't have room for her 2 babies. I'd post a picture, but for some reason I can't seem to get the insert picture to work right. My computer is acting up. I can email the pictures if anyone is interested untill I can get the picture to post here.

Sorry, that dog needs a good lesson. My husband had kneed replacement
and I was at the hospital today. I should have put the chickens in...but I did not.

Came home to find 3 of them GONE...and as I was walking near the coop...out flew the hawk.

NOW THEY ARE LOCKED IN THE BARN. Cannot take any more chances. Hawks seem
to know when no one is arouind. Regards, Aria

so sorry ...
my husband bought me a sling shot ...I havent seen a hawk since ..
I am glad they are locked up & safe now ...Hawks dont care ...I had one fly right over my head ...and try to get a chicken that was a little bit in front of me ..

miqwid, thanks for your kind words. Our Rooster was one of the losses.
This Spring we are going to get a Rooster and more chicks. Well,
when you get chicks....one will definitely be a Rooster.

Sorry Rancher....MORE SILKIES TO COME. Regards, Aria

That's cool, I hope at least your husband is doing good. Im hoping to be hatching some at the end of winter beginning of spring so they are ready to go outside. I would of hatched some already but I didn't realize they would all stop laying so I had to make adjustments to get them laying again LOL.

Any type of silkies in particular your looking for?

I have been on this computer all day searching for a holland lop in a specific color and have had no luck. You would think I would especially since I'm looking in NY, CT, MA and RI. Also looking for one or two more silkie hens to add to my BBS group. Again, can't find any. Trying to find something in time for my trip to CT at the end of this month because I'm not going to be making another trip that way until lord knows when.

Good luck with your search did you try the silkie thread? There is someone in there with amazing silkies though I don't think it's in this area. The rabbit end I have no clue on how to help. I'm looking into getting some myself, but a simple large breed that is winter hardy.

They came from Natureberry. They're actually the second group of them this year because of the fox massacre in June. Otherwise I might have seen some eggs by now from them!
Where did you get yours?

How do you like your barnies? I thought about it but then settle on a Welsummer and she's a trip and a half. I'm excited to get a dark egg just seems like it will be a while LOL. She's a bit too friendly but that is fine. One of my productions birds lays a med/dark brown spotted egg I find that so weird but cool looking.

Checking in again after a couple weeks, I guess. I can't figure out where the time goes. (Sigh) Wait 'till nursing school!
Chickens are all still laying fools, my good girls! They seem so much happier still without Oscar and some are really growing feathers back.
Now for the crazy part... I have a TETRA TINT that is broody. Isn't that like a production red going broody? It just doesn't happen? She has been glued to the nest box for 5 or 6 days now and bites when I take the eggs. Her chest is not bare, however. Sits all day with the far-off look, poor girl. I hope she breaks this soon.
I have been busy with my skin care business. I have my first home party next weekend. We'll give that a shot and see how I do. I'm nervous! I have new scents to introduce. :)
I finished my Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid training and now I'm on the emergency team for the primary school (if there's a medical lockdown when we can help, we get called). I feel good, especially working around hundreds of kids every day, that I KNOW what to do in a medical emergency. And it does happen. One of my students was choking a couple weeks ago. I didn't have to intervene, but it was close.
Hope everyone is doing doing well! I miss being on.

Miss you! Sounds like you have been busy! What new scents do you have?!

I had a welsummer that got taken as well. I wanted to see who laid a darker egg.
So far, I think they are beautiful, I love the lacing and dark coloring on them. They aren't overly friendly I got them when they were 2 months old. They are trusting me a little more now. I'm hoping they will be good winter layers like I read about, I don't supplement with light.
They do act like little alarms with the roo. If he makes a warning call they chime right in.

Stupid birds don't even lay an decent sized egg. Then they're so arrogant they want to hatch every one they lay! The Sheldon Coopers of the chicken world.
