NY chicken lover!!!!

There used to be the Swat Sheet, but they just went out of business. We used to put a lot of stuff in that paper. I had a bunch of baby stuff for sale in the paper when they went out of business. I was trying to figure out where to post things that I wanted to sell and thought about CL, but now havng second thoughts.

Definitely have to be careful with CL! My whole thing with this washer and dryer is obviously someone is going to have to come to my house to get them. I didn't even have people come toy house for the baby bunnies, I always suggest to meet at a public place, especially because these are people are don't know. I just have to make sure my husband is around if and when they come.

Woke up this morning and decided to post an ad on CL for this washer and dryer we have had sitting in the shed ever since we moved in. This house had a washer and dryer but we figured we'd save ours in case anything ever happened to these. Well now we need the space in our shed for the john deer this winter so we need those two appliances out of there. Posted an ad, got a response within 5 minutes from someone. Emailed me 4 time back and forth and now I haven't heard anything. Got another from someone asking if they were still available and demanding I email them with my "direct email" so they can contact me and I'm just like what?!? What the heck does it matter which email you use! And even if I wanted to email them from mine, they hid theirs so how the heck am I supposed to that?!? Man I hate CL! So many weirdos out there! There has got to be another form of selling items online other than CL....Maybe I'll try hoobly.

Well I recently posted for Eggs.

I get back

"I have eggs"

and their email. I don't respond to poorly worded e-mails.

I'm like , yeah so what? I still have eggs.

If I don't reply it is because I am new to this.

to the maddness. Chick your sanity at the door please.

Rancher , don't annoy the crazy person , Hicks.

Oh and I hate Silkies too.

Pics.

You can see the sussex has not lost her attitude. Got right in my face.

Not a mark on her the big fatso. Perhaps the fox had to stop for breath and saw me coming. I wish I had more like her.

Even molting Mario is a lardo.

Buckwheat my frizzled hen. Her son is in the back ground.

This is Buckwheat's son. Traded away. I do have a white del patterned pullet but she would not cooperate. Nor would he for that matter.

Hi everyone.

We went away for the long weekend to our lake cottage and my friend checked in on my chickens. I told her I thought my Delaware was getting ready to lay, and apparently, I was right! My friend got to find Pringle's 1st egg on Saturday. Unfortunately, there was a small hole in it. Hmmmm. Today, she laid her 2nd egg. Once again, there is a very small hole in it. Uh-oh.

There is no leakage because the hole doesn't seem to have penetrated the membrane...just the shell.

Help!?

Could she be pecking them already? If so, she's not breaking through to the yummy inside, which is a good thing. I notice she kicks a lot of the shavings out of the nest box, so it is not cushioned. Helen, the Marans does not do this at all. I keep putting the shavings back in because I was afraid an egg would break.

If just the shell is cracked, is the egg safe to eat, or should I discard it?

Thanks!

Rancher,

I am sorry about your rooster's declining health and that you had to put him down. But I'm happy to hear you went to your doctor and got good news that you were not having heart issues. I hope you're feeling better this week.

Pyxis,

I couldn't read all the posts I missed because of a shortage of time, but I did read that you were still having trouble with the neighbor's dog. I guess if it were me, I'd make it clear (maybe as a unified front with your other chicken-owning neighbor) that this dog has several strikes against him and you are ready to go to the authorities -- whether that be the police or animal control. I would strongly suggest a cable-tie-out or a pen. If you notice that dog is still running around loose, then you should definitely call the authorities. I don't know if you've resolved this yet, because I didn't get through all the back posts while I was away. But I do hope you can get a positive conclusion to this scenario. I'd be on pins and needles, and I love dogs.
