Thanks for making me salivate with those food photo's. YUM! I think I will have some lunch right now!

Interesting conversations on the grass-fed cattle, etc. My husband and I have been talking about going in on pasture-raised beef with a neighbor. There is a farm in Marcellus on Rose Hill Road...considering them, if anyone has any thoughts or advice. I have to check on the name of the farm. I do like the idea of going this route for reasons spanning from health to local economy to animal/humane ethics. A timely discussion here....

TOB

My fiance and I are looking into this too, Thorpe but I don't know where they are located, Another last name that starts with a D that I can't remember now.

Anyone in the Syracuse area have a good poultry processor that they use or would recommend??

I think everyone was pretty far out, give me a few months and I should be getting good :p

If you have Amish folks nearby they might be willing to do some for you.  Nuttsy from Boonesville has someone who does hers for a $1 a bird.  Not a bad deal.

I had mine done by an Amish butcher for $2.50 each, which I thought was pretty good.
TOB - I know of CNY Beef (I think that is the right name) in Homer. They also own Lone Birch Stables. Really nice people, beef cows are pastured on the hill in summer, have a pasture and barn in the valley for winter. Or there is Birdsall Beef in Scott, they supply some of the local establishments with beef.

I'm curious because if I cannot find a home for this splash Silkie roo, I'm seriously considering having him processed. IF I can find someone who would process a Silkie. My husband, being a chef, I'm sure would love to try Silkie chicken. If I cannot find a home for this guy that may be the end result. Maybe that would push me to add a couple more Orps and raise them to be processed for our own consumption. Hmmm decisions decisions....
