There is a place on the bottom of the "forums" page to put what you are seeking. Then subscribe to the thread you start....someone may contact you via the forum. OH, and there is an auction on here too...that's how I found the breeder I am getting mine through. I looked through the auction for people in NY and PM'd her (private messaged). [then I found some for sale on THIS thread and someone else was doing an Easter Hatch LOCAL to me and NOW? my flock of 5 is gonna be 14.

It's also perfectly acceptable to say on this board that you're looking for something!

You never know what you'll find.

I have lots of chicks available, as do others right here. My breeds are in my signature.

Tigrlily I really need to PM you and Featherz about those chicklets you have and the eggs - I'm really interested in adding some more - I think we need to have a smile added for us chicken lovers that shows someone rubbing their hands together with a grin. Any thoughts on that?

The new babies are all doing well and I am really enjoying the older chicks outside - they are really getting personalities. Pecking order is now in Session and one of the Black Jersey Giants and one of my Splach blue Cuckoo Marans (???) decided to have a face off the other day - it was too funny because a third one got just in the middle outside of them backed up and they commenced to going at it. As far as I could tell they aren't roos but the one smaller one got a great hold on the Jersey Giant and he squealed like a girl - no harm, no fowl (chicken humor - hee hee

) no feathers were lost but everyone is starting to get a feel for where they belong. My chicks are all doing well and the little fuzzy butt Silkies and the Silver Laced Wyandottes I just got from TSC are all alive and cheeping well - they've fit in quite well with the lone Nankin, Sumatra, the Seabrights and SS Hamburgs that although are pretty well feathered out I just don't thing since they are so small are ready for outside living yet.

One of my poor Easter Eggers I got from Muggs is not having a good time right now. Vader is his name and being picked on seems to be the game. I put him in with the ducks when we realized that one of the Roos had gotten ahold of him and ripped his head up pretty bad. Vader is small but a bit mean and very plucky. You pick him up and he bites the snot out of you - he went after the babies which is why I put him in with the barred who are pretty good with him. I think it was one of the Red mixes that got him. The ducklings even to after this poor guy. When we get the next set of coops get built I have plans to put him and one of the pullet barred easter eggers together. He really was turning into a nice bird - actually I need to take a look because I'm not really sure he is a Roo - although he certainly acts like one but doesn't have the feathering or the comb or wattles for it. I would give him/her a hug if Vader wouldn't eat my face for it!

Rancher: I promise to get you that information - I will PM the one to you tonight and dig the other off my desk in the am. BTW, I really like your garden set up - I've been trying to get the darling Hubby to build me one of those set ups - I think he finally may this year!

Good morning!

Tgrlily, I pm'ed you. Critterranch, we live very near each other! I am between Fair Haven and Red Creek. I don't go to any of the auctions, because I never know about them till they're over, lol. I also don't know enough yet to buy that way. I googled Pine Creek Feeds, and see that they are in Lyons. I'm not down that way very often, but will check the place out next time I go through there. I would rather buy from an individual at this point in time, and level of knowledge (or lack of, lol).
I'm looking for egg layers, primarily, and don't have any hard-and-fast preferences yet.
DH and I spent the evening looking at different coops, and figuring out what will work best for us. I picked up the chicken issue of the Hobby Farm magazine yesterday, this gave dh something to read through. I thought it was less informative than this site, but he likes hard copy, and he enjoyed it.

Hey Starina--have you looked at the coops on the byc site? Lots of good ideas there. I also picked up the Chicken coops for dummies as I have little skills. I like it as it is pretty clear and easy to follow. You could always modify one of their plans.

Nice to see so many newbies on here! Havent seen many from the Hudson Valley but I enjoy talking to and reading my northern neighbors! Have a great day!
