No, I'll have to get some! She is going to be beautiful, I think. She is half CCL, half white leghorn or white/exchequer leghorn cross. She is mostly black with white peppered in, with a white spot on her head and a little brown around her face. I'm eager to see what she turns out like!

Logging in through the BYC app, I am able to post pic again (or at least that is what I'm trying). Picture of one of the normal eggs from a red hen, and a jumbo double yolker that Luna laid a couple weeks before her death when coming back from molt and broodiness. It has a dividing line all around the middle. So really is two eggs in one shell. Will be eating it for breakfast today.

Ok stony I found ducks besides black runners I like.

Mandarin ducks can and will fly. You'll need a covered run for them. Runners tend not to fly.

Horses went out for awhile today since the wind didn't pick up as expected. Tomorrow blankets will come off so they can get some good scratchy rolls in the snow before the freezing rain and sub-zero temps. Hubby has been tracking weather, guess we are supposed to get just as cold or colder Monday Tuesday. I don't mind snow, it is only an inconvenience. But can do without the bitter cold.

DITTO..........to ALL of the above!

Today is such a welcome change, though it will be very short lived!

(And it's only early January!)

Morning All,

TOB - Happy New Year to YOU. I was starting to wonder where you've been, hadn't seen for you a while there.

Since it warmed up a bit to the mid-20's I'm off to run some errands kid-free while DH is home. 2 straight weeks of being home with both and I'm ready for a vacation! I'll have to settle for a day of shopping for now. LOL Then it's back home to tend to some chicken chores. I think I found someone interested in my two hens.

I like these two - but yes they can fly. Thats what's keeping from getting a smaller breed of duck. I think it's easier for them to take off.
