NY chicken lover!!!!

Aha! I'm fairly obsessed with the Marsh Daisys as well. It looks as though the site was updated sometime this week -- a breed I was interested in previously (Barthuhner) is gone, and they have listed Malines for the first time.

Well be sure to keep me posted if you decide to order anything from them.

I took my Marraduna Basque cockerels in for processing yesterday, so have been doing some poultry window shopping online to cheer myself. I'll probably just try to add pullets to my laying flock this year. We're expecting a new puppy this spring, so will have our hands full -- don't really want to run multiple coops/runs this summer. I'm trying to add a few examples of different breeds to try to narrow down which breeds do well with us and which I really like. If I can do that, I would like to eventually concentrate and breed one or two more seriously.
Be sure to keep two or thee for back up, should anything happen.

Well let me think it over. The newsest and best hen I have just started to lay. I can't wait for some broodies to hatch more chicks. I get plenty of eggs but I just don't have good luck hatching them.

Anyone know anyone that has Vorwerks? I like how they look but never seen them mentioned anywhere. I was surfing the bantam breeds on byc and came across them.

I second that! They are gorgeous. My understanding is that there are only bantams in the US, and that standards are considered (by some) to be Golden Lakenvelders here. I've never tried bantams of any breed, but those Vorwerks are so lovely!

I went to GF 's site and they show a Lav Wyandotte on the cover of the Practical Poultry mag. I went to TSC to get the new copy of the mag but it's not the same cover.

I have considered the Blue Wyandotte. Does anyone know how the Blue orp is related to the Lav orp?

Are the Lav and Blues of breeds related?

Quote: Yes, . I do like them, when they are laying its every day..large white eggs, and they don't eat much. I'm the only one I know of that has a flock that tested negative for AOP, a disease that they seem to be particularly suseptible to. They are cold weather hardy as well cute to look at.

I would love the chance to purchase pullets, should you have reason to part with any!

Well I just got done moving the large coop half way up the hill to the spot I want it. My husband is going to have to help me the rest of the way. Move the poultry netting to around the coop where it is, cleaned out the coop and at least now they have a clean coop and are out of the mud completely! I'm going to have to throw some hay down over all that mud along the back of the house. It is so disgusting!
