Morning!
Got an egg bright and early from my Splash finally! First one she's laid since her 1st egg over two weeks ago. Hoping she's on track with the laying now. It was very cold tho when I got to it this morning. She probably laid it overnight. What are my chances of putting it in the incubator and it developing if it got that cold?

Morning all. A little warmer this morning and the boys were after the girls this morning. Spring must be coming.

Lynzi--let it warm up to room temp and then put it in. Always a chance it will develop. Glad to hear she is laying. Silkies always seem to lay when you dont want them to and stop when you need them to. At least thats what my girls have been doing!

Marquesella--nice score! I would be in too much trouble if I had an incubator that big! Cant wait to see it all cleaned up and running.

Off to the pharm. Its hump day!

Pharm - thanks! Will do. However this is only my 2nd egg from these girls since seeing they were fertile so I'm saving them up for the next hatch. ;-)

Well no chicks so far but a few more pips.

was up at 4:30 and temp would not go higher than 99.3 on the highest rating therm/hyrom. So I took the top off and clicked it up a notch and now it's reading 99.6. Humidity is 63%. I am not hopeful and will change the heater and fan unit after this hatch is done.

I can not figure out why these last two hatches have been so bad. I can not afford a new incubator nor do I want to spend the money on one.


Lynzii - I can't say about your egg. If you have the time is it worth a try?

Rancher have you tried to make an incubator? You seem quite handy? I made ours in a few hours from things I had in the garage and a cooler my boy found in the creek. It held great temps and got a great hatch. 8 of 9 on our first try. The average temp in the house was 62 deg and it held 99-100 with a 75w bulb. an old puter fan and the h2o water thermostat.

Fixed my incubator fan and it is holding temp whoop! Let the hatching begin!
