Rancher, I was thinking that would be the perfect job for you. They could hire you for the chick days season. You could package starter kits in smaller sizes, like 20 lb...and provide guidance...I think you should run the idea past them. Oh, but there is the trip. Well, next year.

Thats a great idea! they could hire someone semi retired or retired with chick knowledge just for chick days... lord knows my local store could use it. The manager said he will be glad when its over they are not enjoying the chicks. I think I'm going to print them up a little flyer with the website info for BYC they can stick in the bags with peoples chicks and lead them here. Good idea Rancher.

This is so fun, I was a little worried I would be a complete failure and nobody would hatch. But they did!! have more pippin. No word from the turkeys or La Bresse yet. Lynzi what color are these? I wasn't able to read the shells and don't wanna stick my hands in there while pippin goin on. Heres three that are out. My camera is not that good but they sure are pretty.

I don't know, but they sure are cute!!! Where did you get the eggs from? Did they tell you what color parents they came from?

well they had a lot of different color parents .. these are from Jeffs birds in Syracuse, he had a egg ad in the hatching egg auction part in Feb.. He did write on the shells in pencil who they were from I'll retrieve shells when they done pipping. I know nothing about silkie colors. One is buff lol the other two I have no idea till I look at the writing on shell they had rolled and it was under them.

Oh! I went back and read the ad again they have Blue, Buff and White all bearded. wooot! I thought they looked like they were gonna have beards.

If I could lift 50#'s I'm sure I'd have no trouble getting a job there.   If they put in a Cafe I'd be there more often. I heard a rumor that that's why they don't.     

I can hear them now,  "Uh, Rancher it's closing time, you have to go home now".  "Uh Rancher, your wife called she wants to know if you'll be home for dinner?"  "Uh Rancher, we don't mind if you come in for coffee or bring a pet, but 50 chickens is a bit much"..        

In Cortland they have an employee that has been with TSC at least 30 years, he looks much older than you. He still shuffles around with a cart and stocks shelves with parts. He was with TSC when they were Farm & Family and my parents were taking me to the store.
I have found that Darin and Jen the Manager in Cortland know enough. Both are very helpful. Same with Virgil, another older guy. They have a new young girl that is clueless, but she just runs the register.
Today they have Red Sex Link, Tetra Tints, White Leghorns, Cornish X. Still need to get my replacement chicks.

In Cortland they have an employee that has been with TSC at least 30 years, he looks much older than you. He still shuffles around with a cart and stocks shelves with parts. He was with TSC when they were Farm & Family and my parents were taking me to the store.

The guy in Cortland is to funny. Every time he sees me he always asks me if I'm ready to buy any chicks yet. I tell him that I'm at my max with chickens.. He then always tells me that they have ducks too... He is to funny!
