give it a couple more days ..some need a few more days if the temp isnt warm enough
. Friday I found her on the wrong nest, her eggs weren't cold, but not warm. So I decided to move her at night into the old A frame, she did not like that. I left her when she was on the eggs, but when I checked on her in the am she as off throwing a fit. So I moved the eggs back to her original nest and she set right down and has stayed put. Some of the eggs were cold, some were warm. Now I have a piece of cage wire in front of her nest so no one can kick her out.
I'll be amazed if anything hatches.
Anyone have an idea what my odds might be of a sucessfull hatch if all goes well from here on out?
My new broody is going back to the wrong nest too . Eggs can hatch with a hen ...she doesnt have to be on them 24 /7 .
Dont know the odds ...

So I am now looking for a cupboard or cabinet that is either free or low cost for hubby and the boys to build the cabinet incubator they are pretty excited to do it and can't wait to start. If anyone has one please message me or let me know on here.

This semester of school is winding down just this week and the next one then am off for the summer the only working I will be doing is around here or on my tan I decided no teaching, no nursing, no work this summer although I say that now I will probably at least do a couple of days a month doing the nurse thing got to have more money for shoes, purses, and chickens.

Am hoping for some nice weather here soon I want sun and warm so I can sit outside and just watch the chickens, turkeys, geese, and ducks they are so comical to watch but are also relaxing.

Morning all. Going to be a beautiful day today. Boys were awake early this morning. I was not happy. The brats needed only a little encouragement to leave the coop this morning. They were standing in the pop door when I called them to come out and boy did they pile out! Jumping and flying and running and sparring! Nothing beats watching the enthusiasm of chicks enjoying their world, being chickens. Dh found some bugs last night and threw them into their run. They didnt need to be told it was a goody. They were on it immediately. Got the terrorists all treated with eprinex last night. Less drama this time around. I do this as a preventative twice a year. Since this spring has been so wet and so many wild birds are around, I didnt want to have to deal with any mites again this year. So far so good.

Good luck with your hatches everyone. I just set more blue silkie eggs. Hoping for a good hatch.

Have a great day!

Not sure how gmail works but aol has spam settings and if an item ends up in Spam folder a couple of times and you don't mark it as not spam aol blocks it from coming through.
I use Yahoo. Not sure how it works either, but it's easier to ask here than research how it goes. Till then I'll keep marking everything "trash".

You could try reporting a problem to Yahoo. If you go into your settings I'm sure there is a place or link for that. You may need to do some clicking around, but I know you can report stuff like that.

Maybe you need a new e-mail address, I use my yahoo account for junk stuff, stores that ask for your e-mail etc. I don't get nearly that much spam!

Here's my free list for the month...

5 Coronation Cockerels, yes 5....sigh. They are about 5 months old, so if not for breeding, stew...
2 Porcelain silkie cockerels 6 months old. Nice for breedinng if you have buffs or lavenders, donn't have time to deal with them.

1 Coronation pullet, reason I'm offering her is she got bad frost bite on her toes, and walks a little funny. And I thought she was a cockerel, so I had her inn with the 5 boys...she is timid so would have to be introduced to a flock slowly. Otherwise, she will lay eggs, I just have too many chickens to deal with her. Same age as cockerels.

Looking to place them asap, do not want to wait for chickenstock so I will put on Craigslist next week if they aren't gone by then.
Ok I'm dumb and know nothing about breeding silkies except white can have so many hidden colors under it when you breed them. So my question is what would a porcelain silkie add to being breed to a buff silkie? The breeder I got my silkies from had the roos being 1/4 or 1/2 red the rest buff then buff hens. Seems I got a lot of black leakage in them and looking to breed it out If we decide to stick with silkies.

I'm having no luck setting a temp on this cabinet bator. With 5 thermometers I get 5 different temps :| I don't know what to do.
Get one that works and guaranteed to work. I love my brinsea spot check thermometer. Only thing I wish it had a longer probe but it works great and have had better hatches using it than ones I buy at walmart. At the very least make sure they read the 10ths of a degree.
