Came home today with 2 Sebastapol goslings to keep my sole hatchinng company. They are so cute...

I'm going to be selling most of my older goslings, if anyone is interested. They are white & un sexed.

Evening all. It was a perfect day today. Too bad I was stuck inside all day. Let everyone out when I came home except the brats/monsters. I swear they grow and inch a day now. Legolas came looking for me from the other side of the house with galadriel. I guess he missed me. I gave him some cucumber and he let her eat it. What a guy! Abby, my cat, has finally come out of hiding since the bear incident last night. She is still nervous and is laying next to me. I have been reading on another site Im on of people having coon problems. Some took some heavy hits this week. Hope none of you have had any problems.

Love the house wren pictures. They will take over and drive out bluebirds. Had that happen a few years ago. They stuffed the nesting box full of twigs on the bluebirds so the poor birds left. I have pheobes around, nesting under the deck by the kitchen door. I dont bother them because they eat lots of bugs.

Rancher--not sure why that hen died. Could be a lot of things. Only way to tell if something was physically wrong is to do an autopsy. How is DW by the way? Holding her own I suspect.

Hoping to get strawberries this weekend to make strawberry jam. Im itching to start jamming and pickling.

Has anyone hatched duck eggs under a hen? I have a persistant broody Coronation hen, and she could probably hatch 12 duck eggs easlily. Just wondered if it was possible.

Added some Belgian Cuckoo Malines to our flock. Will get better pics as I can -- these aren't the best. Also have four lovely little BCM pullets from Marquisella that are doing great -- ready to start integrating them into the main flock soon. .

*waving hand wildly in the air* I DID!!! It worked out wonderfully. HOWEVER the male never learned how to make his feathers waterproof.....the girls figured it out, but the male never figured did. Men, go figure. LOL

Yes, she sat the entire 35 days, on top of the 6 she sat while I was waiting for the eggs to show up. That's a long time, in my book, at least. The Momma hen did kinda freak out when the ducklings crawled into the water bowl, however. LOL

She sure can. I had an EE hatch three duck eggs. Long story but I did not know they were duck eggs. A joke from a friend. I thought they were EE eggs as they were green but they weren't. She got the ducklings back!
