NY chicken lover!!!!

Nice morning here! I expanded the brooder and the peeps are loving life. Practicing their flying now that they have more room. After giving them the new space and fighting over watermelon, they are off to nap so I'll be working more on the coop.
Will I ever be done? Or will this be the never ending project?

It never ends....I had 2 goslings hatch this week, but one died. I didn't want to have a singleton, so I drove down to Sharon Springs and picked up 2 more young ones...Sigh....now I have 3 babies, but they are not "peeping" non stop like the single one did....Decided we are going to put all the geese out in the pasture with the electro net around them. Fixing up a tarp covered hut that blew down in the winter for shelter. I'm a little nervous, but have too many for the area I "thought" they would stay in...

dont forget coop building 101: when in doubt, build it bigger!! i also recommend using screws instead of nails so you can change the design later if you want to, good luck, dont forget pics

There's a guy just south of the NY/PA border who does tolouse geese, both the greys and the buffs. His birds are gorgeous as he has been breeding to SOP for several years. It would be well worth the drive. LMK if u r interested & I will pm u his info.

Hopefully there will soon be an avalanche of chick pics on this thread. Below are a couple from shipped eggs set a couple days before chickenstock. When I set these, I was a chickenstock virgin & unaware of the hazards of a chickenstock Chinese auction;). Those eggs just started pipping this am. Yay!

Are these bantams ? I think I see feather feet ..
we seem to be a 1 chick hatching operation ...our broody seems to hatch just one each time .
Well at least we are not swimming in chicks ...LOL

Lovely morning here, cleaned out the coop.. Put the older babies out.. Boy do they love being out! I love watching them run around. I added some low branches to their pen for natural roosting and they have a ball hopping up and down off them. :) inside the coop the youngsters are getting bigger hopefully next week they too shall be venturing outside.
Wanda my stray wandering chicken is once again penned up ( if you didnt see my other post, she was caught then got out, sneaky girl) she is very food oriented so a scoop of food and back in the fence she went. :) The babies just love her and she them. Im thinking at one point she may have been a momma. She cuddles with them outside in the sun.. Just too sweet.
Anyways, good day New Yorkers.. Enjoy this lovely afternoon! :)
